WHAT WE’RE EATING
I’ve mentioned Daily Harvest and how I’ve been enjoying their Mint Cacao shakes but I haven’t talked about how much I’ve been enjoying some of their other offerings as well. Their Broccoli Cheez bowl and Cauliflower Pesto are two of my other favorites that I’ve been eating for lunch lately .. the Broccoli Cheez bowl in particular hits a sweet spot for me because it’s totally dairy-free!
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
The other day, J & I were scrolling through old photos … and I think we were both just reminiscing at pre-COVID life. We could take our kids places, there were playgrounds and school functions to attend … whatever issues or problems we were going through at the time seem sort of minor compared to the way this pandemic has completely created an upheaval to the very fabric of how we would normally live our lives, you know?
Case in point: look at these old pictures from last year of our girls cheering on their brother at a soccer game. Who knows when the next time we’ll all be able to do this is!
WHAT I’M LOVING
Recently, we discovered that our ham of a third child loves to pretend to make an angry face. This is the face that I make at my kids when I want them to know that mommy is NOT PLEASED and I crack up every time I catch her making it. It makes it funnier because the second picture is what her face normally looks like.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
Is it just me or does it feel like time is flying by? I was trying so hard to think of what we’ve been up to and my mind is seriously coming to a blank … the weeks are just whizzing by me! I think it’s just been a lot of normal life, kids doing remote school, A at home with me, J starting his new job … nothing new under the sun!
WHAT I’M WORKING ON
My podcast cohost, Jensine, and I have been working on Pen & Page Gals diligently as we’re slowly wrapping up the end of our first year/season together. I can’t BELIEVE we’ve been doing this podcast for a year now!? We’re making a few fun changes to the format and also have some upcoming things in our pipeline that I can’t wait to reveal/share.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
A’s preschool has been closed due to non-COVID related things but they are FINALLY able to reopen … TOMORROW! Starting tomorrow A will be at school once again woot woot! I don’t know if I’ll keep her in school for the entire year … it makes me nervous that my three year-old is out and about mingling with who knows who but I honestly think she needs the social interaction and this mama could use a bit of a break from her during the day, too. In any case, whether or not this is long term, I’m EXCITED to be free for a few hours!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING
Oh man, I JUST finished binge reading Midnight Sun in preparation for our latest podcast episode (which should be out by now! Click here to listen!). Tune in and listen to get my & Jensine’s full thoughts and reactions. I’ll also have a full “What To Read” post for the month of October out tomorrow so make sure to check back to see what’s on my immediate to-be-read list.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Alright, to anyone who was listening to KPOP in the late 90s/early 2000s … do you know this song? (Sorry, I can’t find it on Spotify and Apple Music doesn’t seem to have a way for me to link the song to this website.)
I was randomly reminded of this throwback jam and started playing it … and HUBBY SAID HE’S NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT. What in the what? How is that even possible?! Is it a Socal/Norcal thing? (He grew up in Socal and I grew up in Norcal) I remember in high school, everyone loving this song. I mean guys, girls .. it was looped as a homepage song on everyone’s Xanga’s (wow I totally aged myself there, didn’t I? Xanga was PRE MYSPACE ok?).
This next one is SUPER random, but I came across this girl and her song on TikTok of all places and it is SUCH a bop. I have been listening to it repeat since I found her earlier in the summer – be warned, it’s an addicting song! (You can click play below and it’ll play from my blog for you.)
WHAT I’M WEARING
I’m still all about that comfy, easy mom-style for my everyday look but I threw on this pair of overalls the other day and my husband could not stop laughing at me. He said with my hair up in the ponytail the way it was, I looked like a little kid. Harumph.
WHAT IM DOING THIS WEEKEND
Honestly? Lots of nothing 🙂 And it’s my favorite thing in the world! I love slow weekends with no real plans … if that’s not a true sign of a homebody, then I don’t know what is.
