what we’re eating
Well, last night was Taco Tuesday so we went out to eat as a family to a local restaurant and I decided to try a spicy margarita for the first time ever. It’s not exactly what I’m “eating” but it was still delicious!
what i’m reminiscing about
Honestly, I’ve been thinking a lot about the start of the pandemic and what life was like for us two years ago in March of 2020. It’s nuts to think that it’s been two years of COVID, masks, social distancing, all the things. And while things feel like they’re returning to normal in many ways, in other ways it feels like this pandemic has left an indelible mark on the way we live life and view others. Look how little the kids were two years ago! And omg, baby A doing an online dance class via Zoom.
what i’m loving
With spring break coming up, I wanted to get some new swimsuits and Albion Fit released some new colors/patterns for their swimwear! I love the fit of Albion Fit suits… they’re flattering but modest (enough) and give good coverage. Plus they’re CUUTE! Look at this adorable purple one that I recently got!
what we’ve been up to
Recovering from laryngitis and trying to keep a wild puppy calm post-surgery… you can read more about that and what else the month of March involved in my last post.
what i’m dreading
I don’t think I’d say that I’m dreading it per se but E is leaving for 5th grade camp in a few weeks. It’s sleepaway camp!! With her SCHOOL 🥺😭 She’s so excited and ready to go but I’m a nervous wreck about her being away from us for four nights. Prayers coveted for her while she’s gone, please!
what i’m working on
Well… I can tell you what I just FINISHED working on. I got my FIRST EVER sponsorship (for TikTok) recently and it’s a collab with the beauty brand Merit. They reached out to me and I swear I did a double take because I don’t even have strong enough of a following to warrant any brand’s attention yet somehow they found me. I made a TikTok for their new Signature Lip Shade .. you can watch it on IG too 😉 And if you wanted to try one out, here’s my affiliate link!
what i’m excited about
Spring break! It’s next week and hopefully by this time next week, I’ll be in a pool with a tropical drink in hand and a good book by my side. We’re staying within the US but going to a super fun resort with some family friends. I’ll be sure to blog about it and give more specific details after we return!
what i’m watching/reading
I don’t know if anyone noticed but I missed my reading recap post for February so I have a massive Feb/March reading recap coming at the end of the week. Make sure to check back for that post to see what I’ve been reading! Sneak peek:
As for what I’ve been watching… guys. I try really hard not to waste my weekends binge watching shows. I saw that Bridgerton season 2 had been released and after being sorely disappointed with Emily in Paris season 2 (I didn’t even get past a few episodes for that one), I was hesitant to watch season 2 of Bridgerton. But I was bored on Sunday afternoon and I figured, I’ll just watch one so that I’ll be up to date with any major pop culture references. Fast forward to midnight and I was DEEFINITELY canceling my 6am Bar class the next day so that I could finish the last episode. It was unexpectedly fun 🙈🙈 So… yes. I’ve been watching that.
Also, you all know that I enjoy watching a show while I’m doing cardio at home and the current k-drama I’ve been watching is Thirty Nine. It stars Son Ye Jin who, c’mon 😍😍 Anyway, this show reminds me of This Is Us in that if you’re wanting a good, cathartic cry, this show will give it to you. I routinely cry during cardio and during lunch breaks because I’m watching this dumb (good) show.
what i’m listening to
I’m still on my true crime podcast kick! Right now I’m in the middle of listening to Hell & Gone Season 1… it’s more long-form story telling which is what I prefer. I’m obviously not finished with it so can’t say definitively how I like it but so far so good! And it’s currently on season four so if I DO end up liking all of it, there are three more seasons to binge-listen! Teehee!
I’m also waiting to listen to Authentic: The Story of Tablo. This one is new so I’m waiting for all the episodes to be released since, unlike TV shows, I have no qualms about binge listening to podcasts. If you’re into kPop at all, you might like this. Epik High is one of Korea’s biggest k-hiphop/rap groups and Tablo is their main rapper. He’s Korean American and a Stanford grad so when their group debuted it created a lot of buzz because, you know, what’s a Stanford graduate doing rapping in Korea? Anyway, they were (are) a huge group and then a few years ago there was this crazy social media campaign that was HELL BENT on “exposing” Tablo for being a liar, and accusing him of not being Stanford alumni. The thing is, he’s not a liar at all – he really is a Stanford grad – but the movement/scandal took off and grew legs of its own and almost ruined Tablo’s life. I can’t wait to listen to this one!
what i’m wearing
I’m not really wearing anything interesting these days BUT! I did finally go through and purge/organize my ENTIRE closet so … here are pictures of that. I am so proud of myself, this was a big spring cleaning project for me and I finally got it done!
what i’m doing this weekend
Well, this weekend Daisy will be going off for her 3-week board & train with the same trainer that Kylo went to. She’s a great dog so this is more for basic obedience skills (plus, we needed someone to watch her while we were gone on spring break).
what i’m looking forward to next month
April is an INSANE month for our family. Both my daughters have birthdays (one is turning 11 and the other is turning 5!). We have parties for both of them (separate), plus a fun day-trip somewhere special aside from their parties to celebrate their bdays. AND, it’s Easter which, other than Christmas, is the most exciting holiday as a believer to celebrate. We typically host lunch and big egg hunt at our house after church service so we’ve got a busy month up ahead. But you know what that means… tons of good content is coming 🙂
what else is new
J’s office finally started asking their employees to return to office twice a week starting this month. I say finally not because I want him out of the house but because this return to office was something that was planned and then postponed MULTIPLE times due to all the surges the last two years. I’m thankful that we were able to get two full years at home with him and I won’t lie.. it’s been an adjustment even having him gone that day or two a week. I don’t think A even remembers a time pre-COVID when daddy wasn’t at home every moment of the day. The first day he returned to the offie, she randomly came up to me and said “I miss daddy…” 🥺
Nothing else is new besides that though; thanks for reading this month’s What’s Up Wednesday!
