what we’re eating
I mentioned this in my 2022 Goals post but I’ve been using Hello Fresh to cook some new recipes lately and wow, I am really impressed! Here are a few examples of the recipes we’ve received and tried … both of them were really yummy! The first one was a tad salty for my taste but that’s easily adjustable and the un-fried chicken was 🤯 so yummy!! I’m sure the butter helped with that though LOL.
I already have my meals for this week in my fridge and ready to cook! Here’s an example of what is on my menu this week 🙂
If you’d like to try Hello Fresh and you’ve never used it, I have a promo code for $120 off your first order! Use HS-7QOQ9CFJ7 😉
what i’m reminiscing about
LOOK AT THIS LITTLE CHONKER. He turned 8 last week and .. I just can’t. He was so ROUND!
And now he’s a bean pole and a picky eater 😂
what i’m loving
So, I kept seeing this Bissell Crosswave vacuum on TikTok – people said that if you have pets, you NEED THIS. I feel like when we just had Kylo, I could manage the paw prints and hair but with Daisy thrown in? It’s sort of a never-ending (and losing) battle. So, I bit the bullet and tried this vacuum out and I SWEAR, my floors are SPARKLING. 🤩 The picture shows some parts missing because I took off the tank and brush roll cover to wash them. This vacuum is so cool because it mops AND vacuums so it can mop the paw prints/tracked in dirt while also picking up hair (so much hair 😭) and grass debris, etc. I’m obsessed!! I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture of the dirty water tank before dumping it but … would you even want to see that?
ALSO, I bought this adult tracing book off Amazon because I’m the type of person who needs to keep her hands busy when I’m on a phone call and I thought this would be a great substitute for doodling. Guys, it’s awesome! It’s totally mindless enough to do when you’re busy listening to a podcast or talking to someone on the phone and each page takes me 2-3 hours to do (going slowly, while listening/doing something else).
what we’ve been up to
Alllll the spoooortttssss! Our weekends are just taken over by D’s sports. He wants to play all the things and part of me loves it and part of me is tired. He just asked me over the weekend if we would sign him up for flag football 🥴 J & I had to put our foot down and say no to that one because it literally meets on Sunday mornings during church hours.
what i’m dreading
I don’t know if saying that I’m “dreading it” is the right way to phrase it but you know … as much as I love getting back into the rhythm and grind of my morning routine/working out … it’s also super fun to be a lazy sloth. You know what I mean? LOL. So part of me is thrilled by the 5am wake times I’m doing again but part of me is not excited at the thought of it. At least until my body fully readjusts to the early wake times, it still feels hard to do it.
what i’m working on
There is a small master bedroom refresh that I’m working on. Nothing construction related, but I’m getting some new furniture (dressers), moving around existing furniture, getting rid of things we don’t need/use. I might put up some wall paper as an accent wall and might be getting a new vanity table at some point too. I’m kind of taking it slow and going piece by piece to make sure I love every change we make. Should I document this process!?!?
what i’m excited about
Speaking of new furniture, after 5 years of wearing down our kitchen table, it was finally time to order a new one and I am SO HAPPY. The one we currently have was custom built by a local farmhouse furniture place and while it was sturdy construction-wise, the finish was definitely wearing off. I felt like the table was perpetually sticky no matter how much I wiped it down. It was a style of table top that had separate wood panels so it wasn’t a smooth surface which meant it was impossible for the kids to sit there and do any work. Recently the panels have started separating so crumbs and spilled liquids just … disappear into the great unknown abyss of our table top. Anyway, it’s ready to be retired as it’s served us well all these years and I cannot wait for the new one to come. I ordered this one from West Elm!
what i’m watching/reading
Currently reading Liane Moriarty’s newest book, Apples Never Fall. I’m a big sucker for Liane Moriarty … I’d say my favorite book of hers EVER is What Alice Forgot. But I’ve really enjoyed so many of her titles. I waited for this book forever from the library but finally just decided to buy the hardcover and read it. I’ll donate it to my local library when I’m done.
I finished watching Cheer season 2 so I recently stated watching Our Beloved Summer, which is a Korean drama on Netflix. I’m literally only halfway through the first episode but already I love it so much!
what i’m listening to
Guys. I have turned into THAT middle-aged mom. I have finally joined the plethora of other suburban mothers who enjoy listening to true crime podcasts LOL. I have a BUNCH downloaded into my podcast app but I just finished listening to season 1 of Lost Hills which was a bit creepy and a great way to keep my mind occupied while doing dishes/folding laundry. It’s funny that it took me so long to finally get into true crime podcasts because once I started listening to them, I realized that these are basically an audio version of my favorite news magazine shows I used to watch like 20/20 and Dateline NBC. I wasn’t allowed to watch tv for most of my childhood EXCEPT for these true crime long-form reporting shows with my mom so I learned at a young age to enjoy them 😂
what i’m wearing
Well… I got a new pair of Golden Goose for Christmas and I am IN LUUURRRVEE. I loved my first pair that I got for my birthday so much that I asked for a second pair for Christmas. The style I got this time is the Hi-Star, which is a bit more of a platform from the original Golden Goose style (but I like the extra chunkiness). And my first pair had pink glitter on them, which don’t get me wrong – I love pink – but it’s nice to have a neutral pair too.
what i’m doing this weekend
We have sports on the schedule on Saturday and just church on Sunday. It should be a relatively quiet weekend (famous last words??) which I’m NOT mad about at all!
what i’m looking forward to next month
February? There isn’t much going on except for J’s birthday the end of the month!
what else is new
OUR PELOTON TREADMILL IS COMING TOMORRRROWW!! Both J & I are super excited about it. I’m planning on just walking on it a lot while I watch Netflix or what not but I generally hate cardio or any kind so I’m excited about how convenient this will make everything (hopefully).
Thaaaat’s all! Thanks for reading!

I was recently debating whether I wanted to get back into Hello Fresh/Blue Apron meals. Still thinking… You are going to LOVE the treadmill! I have the Bike, but I’m speaking to class options, instructors, etc. It’s a lot of fun! Just found you via this link up and looking forward to reading more!

I’m belatedly catching up on my What’s Up Wednesday posts. Thanks for reminding me to put Apples Never Fall on my library holds. I keep forgetting to reserve and thus, haven’t been able to read it yet. My biggest master bedroom refresh would be to get my husband’s work desk OUT of our bedroom. He’s been working there since March 2020 and I am over it. Hahaha!!!
Sophia says
Oh my, congrats on getting your bedroom work-free! That would be so frustrating to me too! And Apples Never Fall was so good, I hope you get to read it soon!!
