My weekend was full of equal parts rest and recreation; I hope yours was exactly what you needed too!

Soccer, soccer, soccerrrrrrr! Our weekends are pretty dominated by soccer this fall since both D & A are playing this season (A is just rec soccer). D had his first game over the weekend (Happy Meals for a successful first game of the season) and the weather was absolutely beautiful for a day spent at the field. A has two kindergarten classmates on her soccer team and the little redhead pictured below is also a preschool friend who ended up in her kinder class (so sweet!).

I got a pedicure on Saturday in preparation for Labor Day weekend (more details on that coming in the next post) and settled on a neutral grey.

And I finally started reading this book I borrowed from the library back in April 🙃 … after the county libraries decided to do away with late fines, I have been HORRIBLE about returning my books on time. I know I know, shame on me!!!!
So far loving the book, though! I like Josie Silver’s writing style.

After soccer, we hosted some friends over for dinner and playtime. Our three families haven’t been able to see much of each other this summer and we kept saying we wanted to do one last hurrah to say goodbye to summer so this is what that was. We catered Chipotle to make it easy and dude! I’m a fan! My house smelled like a legit Chipotle in the best way possible; everyone was able to make custom salads/bowls/tacos based on what fixings they wanted … simple and quick. My favorite.

After dinner, we let the kids watch a movie and the adults gathered together to play a round of this card game I recently purchased. It’s called Cards Christians Like and it’s a Christian version of Cards Against Humanity (which I’ve never played but I’ve heard is raunchy). This one was super fun and HILARIOUS. We enjoyed playing it and I kind of want to play with other people now too… like I am almost tempted to text people to come over for dinner just so we can bust out this game LOL! If you get a random text from me … you know what it’s about 😂

Sunday we went to church .. during our adult Sunday school class we had some time with one of our pastors who is moving to a different state. It was bittersweet as this pastor was so tender and crucial in counseling us through some really difficult scenarios a few years ago (nothing in our marriage, it was extended family stuff if you’re dying to know).

Is there ANYTHING better than a post-church nap!?!?
I say no 😉

After we got home from church and everyone had an opportunity to rest a bit, we played outside with the kids and enjoyed the perfect California weather. It was that “just right temp” of not too hot and not too cold this past weekend.

After playing, J and the kids took to weeding/pruning out my garden for me. It’s turned into a jungle the last few weeks and there was a strange giant mushroom/fungus growing in there too… I was just too lazy to do anything about it. Thankfully, they took care of it for me. EXCELLENT.

I wrapped up my Sunday by getting ready for the coming week … I usually look at my calendar and the kids’ schedules … try to loosely meal plan … for this past Sunday, since September is starting this week, I also got started on creating next month’s bullet journaling spreads. Just quiet, creative time in my little laundry room office at home. It was exactly what I needed.
I have a super fun What’s Up Wednesday post planned for this week so stay tuned for that and:
