Is it okay that I sometimes count Fridays as the start of my weekends? I hope so because today’s Weekend Top 10 post actually starts on last Friday! 🤪
On Fridays, A is home from preschool so she gets lots of 1:1 time with me. I am LOVING it – I think 4 years old is my favorite age so far. She’s still little and light enough to be held but can have an actual conversation with me and is so stinkin’ hilarious, too. A has a dance class that I take her to on Fridays so we kicked off the weekend by doing that … then we went to the mall to run a few errands and I lost track of the time and didn’t feed her lunch until close to 2pm. The last picture below, she is SO HANGRY. She just stared at nothing like that the entire car drive home and perked up after I fed her some chicken tenders and potatoes 😝 #oops
On Friday night, I got together with some girlfriends to go GO KART RACING (LOL!!!) to celebrate my sister from another mister’s birthday! I love you, D! 🤍 I was a little apprehensive about go-karting at first … I mean, it’s honestly not the type of thing that I would normally choose as an activity for a moms’ night out. But IT WAS SO FUN HAHAHA! I definitely have the need for speed (and I wasn’t even the fastest one driving out of this group of mamas)!
Saturday was an interesting day … J got his second COVID vaccine shot the day before on Friday so he was sick in bed for much of Saturday. Plus, the local water company shut off our water so we had no working sinks or flushable toilets all day on Saturday. The weather was gloomy and kind of drizzly so it didn’t make sense to take the kids out to the park to kill time… we just sort of chilled at home with unflushed toilets (🤢 ) for most the day. But anyway, since J was sick in bed, I got up early on Saturday AM to take this little dude to his soccer clinic.
Later on Saturday night, I actually had another moms’ night out (different group of friends) for another dear sister form another mister’s birthday! Ah .. I’m honestly so amazed by the friendships God has provided to me over the past several years. Around the time D was born (about 7 years ago?) I was really struggling with my friendships. I felt like I was surrounded by people but still somehow lonely and just felt like I hadn’t found “my people” even though on the surface to everyone else it probably looked like I DID have “my people.” I remember there were several years where I really struggled and just laid those desires out before the Lord, repented of where I was idolizing/coveting certain friendships and just tried to be faithful with what God had put in front of me. Lo and behold, He really answered those prayers for me multifold. He grew some existing friendships to depths I didn’t know were possible and brought in friendships with people that I’ve known on a surface level for a long time but wouldn’t have considered my “ride or die” until a year or two ago. Anyway, all that say… it’s not lost on me that it’s a huge blessing that I have people in my life to celebrate, even if that meant my weekend was full of back to back birthday things 🥳
I got to my Saturday girls’ dinner a little early so spent some time reading in my car …
And then I tried out a new sushi place with my friends and IT WAS BOMB DOT COM.
So, so, stinkin good.
Is a girls’ night out complete without ice cream? Especially if it’s dairy-free ice cream from Salt & Straw!??! I think not.
Sunday, we went to church … (I remembered to snap a picture in the car!)
Then after church, we grilled lunch at home and I decided it was time to harvest some of my ggaetnip… guuuysssss, it was SO GOOD. Literally, the best ggaetnip I’ve ever had in my LIFE.
And then I concluded Sunday (and my weekend) with a nice Sunday afternoon nap. J told D the other day – there are two things you don’t mess with when it comes to mommy. Her water and her Sunday afternoon nap/rest time. Those are her two non-negotiables in life. LOL!!
Did you notice I don’t have a 10 for my Weekend Top 10? That’s just how it happened for this post 😂 Sorry, not sorry. Bye!
