So this isn’t really the weekend but on Friday night, our church restarted AWANA programs outdoors. We were technically supposed to kick off last week but it got pushed back due to the bad air quality and the fact that all the kids would be outdoors because of COVID. In any case, all three of our kids get to go to AWANA now, with little A starting her first year of Cubbies. She looked SO adorable in her little vest and she also received a little tote to hold her book and she LOVES carrying it around the house.
On Saturday morning, I was gifted the opportunity to sleep in. SLEEP IN, Y’ALL. I slept until past 10 am. I genuinely do not remember the last time that happened, partly because we are all so busy and partly because my body just wakes up, even on weekends. I must have been TIRED though because this time, I literally thought it was still 830 am-ish and was shocked when I looked at the time and realized it was mid-morning already.
Later on Saturday, I got to meet up with J and have a work session for our Pen & Page Gals podcast. We brainstormed, planned, dreamed a little and finished with some dinner together. It was refreshing and inspiring .. we’re nearing the end of Season 1 of our podcast (can’t believe we’ve made it a full year?!) and are so excited for Season 2!
On Sunday, we had a quiet morning with streamed church and then Hubby took the kids out for lunch/running errands so Kylo and I were the only ones at home. We spent some quality time playing fetch; this puppy is so fast!
While Hubby was out, he took the kids out to eat lunch at a park and then to the dollar store for a little present. That’s one of his daddy traditions – anytime he’s out alone with the kids, he almost always makes a stop at the dollar store and lets each kid pick out a little trinket/toy. It kind of makes me roll my eyes but also kind of makes me melt.
On his way home, Hubby brought back Starbucks! I’ve been LOVING a cold brew with cinnamon oat milk foam on top. Yummalicious!
Next up on the weekend agenda was a home haircut for D. Look how handsome he is!
Sundays are always pizza night in our family; we do that so nobody (me) has to think of what to meal plan/cook for dinner on what should be a day of rest and we usually eat on paper plates so there are no dishes either.
Our neighbor used to be D’s old preschool teacher and she also (pre-COVID) would come to our house to do swim lessons for all three of our kids. She dropped by with some treats for our kids, including this package of fun Halloween themed Oreo cookies.
We rounded out the weekend with a movie for the kids in the playroom and snuggle time in the living room for Hubby and me! Lately, J & I have been loving chatting and laughing about random things before going to bed; last night I think we were up until past midnight just roasting each other and laughing about the oddest things. It’s nice to be married to your best friend 🙂
