Wow, it’s so crazy to think that the last time I did a post on Memorial Day weekend was two years ago and I wasn’t even pregnant with baby A yet. Weird!
I honestly don’t have very many pictures at all from this past weekend, but I figured I’d post what I do have and make do.
Saturday was chilly and overcast … not ideal beach weather at all, but somehow we found ourselves at the beach anyway with a few of our friends and their kids. We actually had a lot of fun despite the cold but I only have two pictures to document the day. I guess that’s a sign of how much fun we were having? That I didn’t think to pull out my phone?
We grazed and played all day which meant that A needed to go with the flow and catch her naps whenever she felt tired enough. She ended up caving in daddy’s arms after a few hours.
Sunday morning we went to church, followed by lunch & errands afterward. We came home and had a private concert (hah) by daddy. A once again missed her nap because we were out and about and don’t let the following pictures fool you. SHE. WAS. A. CRANK. (Which is why J had to pull out the guitar because it was the only thing keeping her from being a miserable tyrant.)
Recently a new nail salon opened in my town and I was so excited because even though we have lived here for four years now, I have still been driving half an hour to my old neighborhood to get my nails done. I just couldn’t find a good enough salon that was worth going to around me! This new salon is checking off all the boxes on my must-have list, though: Clean? Check. No overpowering acrylic/gel nail smell when you walk in? Check. QUALITY nail services? Check. Reasonable prices? Check check check.
This is actually the same nail salon that I did E’s 7th “Spa Birthday Party” at so I took her back with me to get our nails done. She was excited for some 1:1 time with me and the nail techs were so sweet to coo over how cute she was sitting in the big pedicure bench lol.
Monday was when the weather finally started taking a turn for the warmer. The past two weeks have been FREEZING cold in my neck of the woods. I’m talking winter coats, bundled up, kids catching colds, almost winter-like temps (for us Californians anyway). I was happy to see the forecast for Monday was supposed to be BLAZING hot. Summer is right around the corner, that’s how it should be, right!?
We got a late start to the day because after two days of missing her naps, it was im-per-a-tive that A get a solid morning nap in this day. Once she woke up, we packed up the kids and headed to the park for some biking and a picnic.
We didn’t last very long though because by the time we finished eating lunch, it was starting to creep into the hottest hours of the day and the big kids were starting to melt. So we left the park early and headed home to jump into the pool! It was the first swim of the season at our pool 🙂
I think our pool heater might be broken so the water was definitely colder than I would have preferred but it was so hot, it actually felt nice to be cold for once. It was A’s first time getting into the pool and I wasn’t sure how she’d do. Would she be a mermaid like her big sister or a scaredy-cat like her big brother? (Who, by the way, told me he was a big boy now and wasn’t going to cry about getting in the pool but OH BOY LET ME TELL YOU, he definitely DID cry about getting in.)
We have another mermaid! She loved it! I was only going to dip her feet in since, like I said, the water was pretty frigid, but after a few minutes, she tried to climb all the way in by herself so her daddy took her around for a little splash/walking. She knocked out HARD for her second nap after this YAAAAAAAAS.
We wrapped up Monday with burgers and basketball (go Warriors!) and tucked all the kiddos in for the night. I love long weekends because not only do you get the extra day off to play but the rest of the week goes by so much faster, too.
