We had the BEST weekend – it was filled with lots of family time and BEAUTIFUL weather.
Our morning started off really slow… I had a mommy/daughter date with E scheduled during lunch/afternoon time so E was bouncing off the walls with excitement. Hubby held her in his lap and we both were shocked at how TALL she is now! I mean she’s about to turn 10 so she’s definitely not a little kid anymore but still! She’s so long and lanky …
Tons of time on the new trampoline was another highlight of the weekend. I actually thought E would enjoy it the most because of her autism (you know, stimming) but the younger two have LIVED on the trampoline all weekend. They bounce, they lay, they chat, they scream for joy … it’s really cute to watch.
Like I’ve mentioned, I had a mommy/daughter date scheduled with E and we went to grab lunch/get our nails done together. This girl is so funny! We were able to have actual conversations about school and this horse class she’s taking; we had a good laugh over the size of horse poop. After lunch, I noticed E was a little chilly because all she’d brought was a simple zip up hoodie so we popped into Gap Kids to see if we could snag a jacket and we found this ADORABLE star printed purple one for $17!! It was on clearance and then 40% off the clearance price. Then we went and got our nails done together and headed back home after.
While we were doing our date, J took the younger two kids out to ride their bikes. Look at that beautiful sky! The air had a slight bite to it but if you were bundled up appropriately, it was perfect weather.
Then we all came home and it was more backyard/outside time together. We’re in the process of (hopefully) finishing out the rest of our backyard. We’ve been in this house for 4 years and the lot size is so big that it’s been hard to do all of the yard at once. We’ve been working piecemeal on it bit by bit – a paved patio here, basketball court there … right now we’re in the middle of replacing our 60 year old fence. We also need to redo our pool but that’s SUPER $$$ so I don’t think we’ll get to that for another couple of years.
On Saturday night, J & I had an at-home date night! Sushi and 90’s throwback movie Tremors. LOL, have you ever seen Tremors? I’d only ever seen a scene or two here and there since it came out when I was 5 and I definitely wasn’t watching it when it was out in theaters. It’s funny and quick-moving though! I’d recommend 🙂
Sunday morning was church and then after lunch, D had a free online art class thing to try out. I was offered a free art class on Instagram by live kids’ art class platform Cosmourse so of course I jumped on it! D seemed a little unsure at first but he eventually started to get into it and giggled at the teacher’s jokes, responded to her questions, etc. It was cute to see!
On Sunday, I also started D on this Korean ginseng tonic for kids … it’s called hanyak in Korean and my mother in law recommended it for D to increase his appetite because he’s sort of a picky eater. I feel like such a Korean mom now … I remember being forced to eat a nastier version of this hanyak when I was growing up. I think formulation has since improved, though, because I warned D that it might not taste that great but he said it was fine. Great, because halmoni sent two months of supply for you, dude! 😉
The rest of Sunday afternoon I took time to take care of some housekeeping and work as well as…
Editing our Jan episode of Pen & Page Gals! We were a little late in recording this month’s episode and I was planning on editing it/getting it live on Friday BUUUUT on Friday, something with my lunch did NOT sit well with me so I was stuck in bed with the worst stomach pains from about 3pm onwards and got nothing done. It was kind of terrible but also kind of nice lol (to lay in bed, not to have a stomachache). But I still managed to get it live before the end of the month so it’s technically not late! Give it a listen if you’re bored.
I wrapped up this weekend with the greatest gift from Hubby – the gift of quiet time. My husband is really, really good about taking the kids out for the day or at least a meal so that I can have some alone time, especially now that COVID means I can’t exactly go and luxuriate in a spa for “mama time” when I need to recharge. God bless J, he took all three kids AND Kylo out to the park to play and out to dinner on Sunday night so I had a QUIET house all to myself.
I used the time to plan for the week (and month! Feb is here!) and to start reading this book:
And that’s it! How was your weekend!? Drop a comment and let me know about something fun or relaxing you did!
