Well, well, well … you ever have one of those weekends that felt like it was busy/productive but you also don’t know what you did all day? Yep. It me.
friday night
We kicked off the weekend on Friday night by dropping all three of our kids off at AWANA and then heading to our new favorite Japanese spot for a date night. A was super tired and knocked out in the car on the way to church (the major tantrum/meltdown she had right before we left the house probably did not help this either hahaha). J is a super softie and wanted to let her sleep. I said hecks to the no, I’m getting my date night and woke her up 😂 She was fine, guys. She was fine.
I don’t know if you guys are like this but if I discover a food/restaurant that I like I need to eat it obsessively until I am sick of it and just can’t do it anymore. That is what is happening with the hwe-dup-bap (Korean sashimi with rice bowl) I discovered this summer at a Japanese spot near church. I went with my friend, D, and our kids after Day Camp on a whim and have been hooked on their hwe-dup-bap ever since. YUURRM. I also snuck in an order of toro because cmon … who doesn’t like toro!? 🤩
After AWANA, we came home, put the kids to bed and then snuggled up to watch a few episodes of …. Squid Game on Netflix LOL. Hubby REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to watch this show together so I said fine. We let Kylo cuddle next to us while we watched too.
saturday
Saturday was a big catch up day for us. We didn’t have ANYTHING on our schedule… no sports, no friends, no nothing and we really needed this day to just take care of all the things that have been piling up around our house. We also ALL (like everyone .. the dog included) slept in until 9am which felt freakin fantastic but personally, also felt like it threw my whole day off. I honestly didn’t want to do anything productive after waking up that late but J forced me to so… I did. My mentality tends to be .. if I start as a sloth, I need to end as a sloth 😂 But clearly my husband is different.
One of the things I did was I finally sorted through my clothes to decide what is going to get donated versus what am I going to try and resell… the circled pile is what is getting sent to Goodwill/Salvation Army! My church had a freecycle clothing event LAST WEEK and I really wanted to do this before then so I could just donate my unsellable clothes to that event but … I couldn’t pull myself together in time to do it. 😬
I also finally organized through all the tiny little piles of junk that have been amassing in random corners/tables/areas of my house .. I don’t have a picture of that though. I was a terrible blogger this weekend and really didn’t document anything that I should have lololol. Soweeee.
After a day of hard work … reward myself with MORE SQUID GAME. Oh my gosh. At this point, I just wanted to watch it all and get it over with so I could stop thinking about it.
sunday
Sunday, D had a soccer game bright and early in a place that was about an hour away from us so we had to stream church service in the car as we drove there. Not my favorite thing to do but we made a commitment to soccer so .. here we are.
After the soccer game, we decided to hang around the area and grab lunch … of which I have no picture. Duh.
When we got home, we saw this nasty sight all over our car grill. On our way home, we were crossing one of the bridges and all of a sudden started seeing a TON of tiny little splats all over our windshield … like popcorn popping, SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT over and over. For a minute I was wondering if it was sprinkling/rain but the splats were dark and the clouds looked blue and clear …
Bugs. Tiny little bugs. IT WAS SO GROSS 🤮
After we got home, we rinsed off the car …. and you guessed it. More Squid Game. Maybe this is why I felt like even though my weekend was busy, I also didn’t do anything. Because 50% of it was spent watching this dumb show.
We had CG later in the afternoon so after watching an episode of SQ, we loaded up our kids and headed to CG. We’re trying a new format this year … typically, preCOVID, we’d meet on Monday nights without kids but this year we’re doing Sunday afternoons and you’re welcome to bring your kids if you’d like. We brought ours and they had a ton of fun playing with the other kids while the adults met and fellowshipped/prayed. It reminded me of when I was little and would go to these Korean prayer meetings which I’m sure were serious business for the adults but TONS OF FUN for me as a child because it was just unsupervised play time 😂
Also, do I have a picture? No.
In fact, I don’t have anymore pictures of the weekend. #bloggerfail But just know .. after CG, we came home, ate dinner, put the kids to bed … then finished the last two episodes of Squid Game so I could get it out of my life forever. I didn’t think the show overall was worth it … it was super fun in the middle episodes but the ending was lame and I wouldn’t recommend/watch again if there’s another season 😂
Happy Monday, guys!
