April is such a crazy month … I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned that before but I’m almost at the finish line that is the end of the month and if I’m being honest .. I’m limping there 😂 AND IT’S STILL NOT OVER.
I’m super thankful though because I was able to take some time this past weekend to recharge (a LITTLE) and reset before launching back into the last crazy week of this month.
So Friday-Saturday, I actually went away with two of my book besties and we got a couple of hotel rooms so that we could ….
… binge watch Shadow & Bone on Netflix together! The show is based off the book series by Leigh Bardugo, of which we are HUUUUGE fans so to say that we were excited for the show was an understatement.
8 episodes, 1 night, 3 moms. WE 💪🏻 CRUSHED 💪🏻 IT 💪🏻!! We finished the entire season a little after midnight (which if I’m honest was a little rough for me because I sleep at 9pm most nights) and I don’t know about the other two moms, but I knocked out IMMEDIATELY after we finished LOL.
We all “slept in” (aka woke up around 8am) and then just relaxed … took our time getting out of bed and getting ready before heading out for lunch.
We had noodles and if you know me, you know that NOODLES ARE LYFE OK. I love me some noodles. YUUURRRM!!
After lunch, we got some coffee … walked around … window shopped .. it was super relaxing and chill. We actually just had a lot of time to kill, too, before we needed to head to our second location for a birthday dinner.
After a few hours, we decided ehhh, let’s just go and chill at our second location (where dinner would be) so we headed on over and read books …
Then had dinner and ICE CREAM! A new Salt & Straw location opened up in this plaza and I was SO excited to be able to have my vegan strawberry sherbert!
Meanwhile, while I was gone, J was holding down the fort JUST FINE with these 3 little monkeys ..
I got home pretty late on Saturday night (considering that we’d been out ALL day that day) and I unpacked, cleaned up as much of the disaster in my house as I could (if you’ve ever left your husband alone with the kids overnight then you know what I’m talking about), and then knocked OUT.
Sunday morning was even busier than Saturday because it was the day of E’s 10th birthday party. I feel like 10 is a big number because … I mean, you’re entering a new decade AND double digits. Plus, last year she didn’t get ANY party, ANY hang out with friends .. nothing. Everything was closed so I felt like she was due for something fun this year. Anyway, the party was outdoors because *COVID* but .. .the weather on Sunday was also CRAPPY so merp. I was also just exhausted. I slept a full 8 hours but it wasn’t enough .. it was like I had a girls’ trip hangover LOL. So tired.
E & I went to pick up some cupcakes to pass out to her friends …
Then I scooped up her best friend and took the two of them to grab pizza before the party started.
The party was at a local ranch in our town … the kids got to see animals, play in the garden, etc. I told parents that it would probably be rainy (and it was) and to appropriately dress their kids. I think everyone had a blast even though it was wet and muddy. The ranch doesn’t allow food right now due to COVID protocols so I just passed out cupcakes for the girls to take home in the parking lot and we did a quick Happy Birthday song in the rain. LOL, it was memorable 😂
Oh! And while I was waiting in the car for the party to end, I was looking at my nails and decided I REALLY like this new color by Olive & June. It’s called 100% Chance and it’s a part of their April Showers collection .. HOW FITTING because it was raining on this dreary Sunday in April LOL. Isn’t it pretty though?! It’s like a gunmetal blue … kind of slate-y, kind of gray-ish. Really unique 🙂
After the whirlwind of my girls’ trip and E’s birthday party, I was ready to go home on Sunday afternoon and just CRASH … Apparently, D had similar ideas. I don’t really know what he was up to all weekend (because again, mama was in & out and so busy) but I guess sometime around dinner, he told daddy that he felt a little funny so J cuddled with him on the couch … and then D PASSED OUT. AND DIDN’T WAKE UP. UNTIL THIS MORNING LOL. He apparently moved to his bedroom from the couch around 2 am (says J) and then came out of his room around 530 am (I know because I was awake this time) to pee. He was still wearing his clothes from the day before and told me it was funny to sleep in his clothes so we put his PJ’s on and he slept MORE. I think kiddo was just exhausted … from what? I dunno. But I’m glad he woke up Monday morning and felt bright & chipper as usual.
That’s it! That was my weekend! I just have one more crazy busy push this week (with E’s actual birthday on Tuesday) and then I think … I THINK .. things will be calmer? But honestly, May is the last month of the school year and end of the school year stuff (like Teacher Appreciation) is also pretty hectic. Pray for ya girl, she be tired 😂
