Last weekend was so much fun! On Saturday, we had a “lunch playdate”-ish type of gathering at our house .. it was originally meant to be at a park but somehow it morphed into a “let’s build Sophia’s garden together” thing WHICH I AM NOT MAD ABOUT AT ALL! It was awesome!
I love to make a good charcuterie board when I’m hosting families over… this and cowboy caviar are my two go-tos! J also found this sangria mix from Costco that we tried out for the first time over the weekend and it was SO TASTY!! YEEEERRRMMMM!
We grubbed and our kids played together …
And I have to say that I am SO PROUD of how Kylo did with all these people inside & outside. I let him out to mingle & train while everyone was around and he did fantastic!
The moms & I chatted and hung out on the front porch while our kids ran rampant. Then it was time for the dads to get down to business and start planning/building out MY GARDEN!! HOHOHOHO!
The weather was absolute perfection … and the other wives & I sat around supervising the work LOL.
It honestly took longer to build the box than I thought .. I did not realize how much work went into it! My husband is NOT an engineer and had no idea what to do/how to do it but thankfully one of my friend’s husbands IS an engineer and DID know what to do 😉 Do you see why I invited them over for lunch? Hahaha! It’s good to have talented friends, folks!
The wife of the engineer is also an avid gardener and is a WEALTH of knowledge so I forced asked her if she could come and help me get my actual planting started. She basically planted my whole garden for me and her husband built it. Again … it’s good to have talented friends, folks. AND SHE GAVE ME A GGAETNIP PLANT! It’s a Korean perilla plant and my FAVORITE THING EVER. She grew it from a SEED 😮This plant is PRECIOUS, I feel so much love and pressure for it lol.
By the time we’d finished, lunch had turned into dinner so we ended up spending the entire day with our friends. One of the families had left earlier because they had previous dinner plans but the other stayed and our kids just ran around like wild hyenas all day. ALL. DAY.
Finished garden! (Not completely finished … we only had time to do one box but worry not .. I forced asked them if they could come back next weekend to help us finish the rest of the boxes 😅). EEEEP, I am SO hyped for it guys!!
On Sunday, we had church in the morning .. I don’t know why I ALWAYS forget to take a cute family picture of us (or at least of the kids!) dressed and ready for church for these weekend recap posts. This is the only picture I have from Sunday morning:
After church, we ate lunch and planted a few more things in our front lawn (not the vegetable garden but just flowers along our patio). My oldest daughter was super interested so she came out and was watching … look how big she is 🥺
J thought it would be funny to (1) wear this ridiculous hat while “gardening” (it’s only ridiculous because he didn’t really help me …. LOL, if you’re reading this honey, YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE – I DID MOST THE WORK) and (2) snap this ridiculous picture then change it as my phone background. Well, little did he know that I have not only kept this picture as my phone background and will continue to do so, I am also posting this picture for all of the internet and my 10 blog readers to enjoy.
Feel free to download and make it YOUR phone background too, guys! 😂
The weekend marked the start of spring break for my kids and the weather was, again, so nice so J took the kids to get ice cream to kick off the week long break.
Then we ended the night with showers and our Resurrection Egg story/activity in celebration of Easter this weekend! I had all the kids pile into our bed to listen to the story and ooooof, I just want to bottle them up at this exact age and remember how the three of them look together.
Not sure why A was mean mugging, she was definitely happy not grumpy …
Anyway, that was our weekend! Like I’ve mentioned, it’s currently spring break for us and even though we don’t have any plans to go anywhere/do anything, we’re deeeefinitely pretending our house is an Air BnB and living in full-on vacation mode right now.
