Well all I can say about this past weekend was it definitely took a weird turn and was NOT what I had thought it was going to be at all.
I don’t have a picture for this but like I’ve mentioned previously, we’ve been dealing with some terrible air quality in the Bay Area due to the California wildfires (the one in Napa this time to be specific) nearby. Because the air was unhealthy, AWANA was canceled for our kids so we kicked off the weekend on Friday night with a Family Movie Night to make up for it. Our flick pick was Honey I Shrunk The Kids! I loved this movie so much when I was little.
On Saturday morning, A woke up at some God-awful hour (5am? something like that) crying about I-don’t-even-know-what. In my sleep stupor, I thought she had to pee but she kept mumbling about her leg hurting, then her mouth hurting, then her lip hurting, and I don’t know. In the end, I just let her pee, put some lip balm on her, and told her to go back to bed. A few hours later at a more socially acceptable time, she left me a little gift in my room LOL.
We’d been hearing reports all Friday that starting on Saturday the winds would shift and clearer air would be pushed back into the Bay Area. Saturday morning did seem a bit better in terms of air quality so we decided to load up the kids and drive to the mall to run a few errands with them. I can’t even make this up, as we were driving we noticed the sky around us looked hazier than it had before so we checked the AQI again and it was turning unhealthy again! The mall is indoors, though, so we decided to still do some quick errands and then head back home afterwards.
During the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, we started this tradition where Thursday afternoon lunch is always McDonalds Happy Meals for the kids. Once they started going to their pods for school in August, we obviously couldn’t do McD lunches on Thursday so we switched it to Saturdays. Happy Meals are such an easy way to make my kids happy haha.
Yo, there are these new spicy chicken nuggets that McD is having a limited time special on. YOU NEED TO RUN TO YOUR MCDONALDS ASAP and try them out. They’re unnaturally delicious.
After the mall, we put A down for a nap. I could tell she was really tired because I’ll normally hear her singing songs/playing in her bed for a bit before falling asleep but this time she knocked out pretty much instantly. I went in to check on her once and she was sleeping so peacefully.
When she woke up, she was feeling a little crabby so we just decided to keep it easy and stay home the rest of the day (not that we really had plans, hah) and watch movies. I started watching The Morning Show on AppleTV since I wanted to watch something too .. it’s so good! I can see why it got so much hype last year.
On Sunday morning, I streamed Sunday service in A’s room while she played with her toys and Hubby streamed with the big kids in the living room.
After church, Hubby took the big kids for a walk with Kylo while A & I hung out at home. He’s tried to take A on these walks before but her stamina is just not there. She cries and refuses to walk/begs to be carried … the last time, he made an SOS call to me at home and I had to drive to where they were to pick them up hahahaa.
Her side-eye game is strong.
We were supposed to have some friends over to watch the NBA Finals but we cancelled since A was feeling a bit bleh the day before. She was perfectly fine by Sunday but just to be cautious .. you never know in this pandemic, right?
That wraps up our weekend! Lots of screen time, not much accomplished 🙂 Not what I’d thought we’d be doing but that’s ok.
