Happy Monday and HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY everyone! I don’t have any plans tonight (other than to have breakfast for dinner – that’s what my kids requested as their special Valentine’s Day treat) but I did have an awesome weekend so here’s my recap post!
friday
I know you all know this about me by now but my weekends start on FRIDAY! I mean, not really but it feels like the weekend in my heart so I treat it as so in my weekend recaps. On Friday, I went back to my favorite local spa for a deep tissue massage… I haven’t been back here in a very long time as they were closed for much of the pandemic. I MISSED IT SO MUCH! The service and amenities were fabulous.
While I was gone, J sent me this photo of Daisy chilling in the garage next to him … she’s so cute when she’s asleep 🥺
saturday
Saturday morning started off relatively slow. Last week was an insane week for me on a private, personal, emotional level. Lots of stuff to think through and stress collecting in my body (hence the massage/spa day the day before). I told J that I needed Sat morning “free” to just sleep in and recuperate from the week and he agreed so I slept in until 930 on Saturday morning. D had soccer so J took D and E to drop him off … and then went on a little date with E while D was playing.
After I got up, I got ready and picked up around the house a tad because little A was having a PLAYDATE with her friend!! We’ve done outdoor playdates with some of her friends before but this was her very first “real” (indoor) playdate with a school friend and she was bouncing off the walls so excited to share her toys and things. These two girls were in the same 2’s preschool class together and are together again with the same teachers so it’s so sweet to see how big they’ve gotten. They were easy peasy girls, I just had to make sure to supervise them when they were outside because of the pool. Other than that, it was the easiest playdate I think I’ve ever done.
A is such a quintessential little sister… before her friend came over, I told her to stay out of her brother’s and sister’s rooms and just play in her room, the playroom or outside with her friend. Well, pretty much as soon as her little friend arrived I caught them both in big sister’s room (remember, E wasn’t home so they were sneaking around in there without her invitation). I told A to get out and as she was walking out, I heard her whisper to her friend “my sister never lets me on her bed” 🙄🙄 UH YEA, if you know she never lets you on there, why you tryna get on there when she’s not home? HMMMM?
The big kids were in and out of the house with their dad while this playdate was happening but after lunch, the friend went home and we chilled at home for bit before D had to head to basketball after soccer. J took him solo this week so while they were gone, I decided to finally try on a set on of my precious Olive & June press-ons. I’ve had these since they first launched them last fall but wasn’t able to try them because during the holidays I wanted to wear my festive Christmas nails and then, as you know, I was taking a break in Jan 2022. Which btw!! Look at how healthy my nails looked right before I put these glue-on nails on!
I had a set of stick-on press-ons on my hands before putting on these O&J nails and I’m happy to report that they literally peeled off like a (very sticky) sticker in the hot shower and left my nails with literally no sign of damage. Again, I think stick-on press-ons are a GREAT option if you’re just looking for something quick and fun that doesn’t need to last a long time. Anyway, back to to these nails, though. I love O&J polish so had high hopes for their press-ons and guys … THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. 😮
I. MEAN. 🤩🤩🤩🤩!! You know what I discovered about these nails that I REALLY love is the sizing of the nails. I’ve literally never had a set that came with SO many different size options. ALSO, I noticed that the way these nails are made, they are super curved. This means that they HUG the natural nail and give excellent coverage. You see how from the side view, you can’t see my natural nail at all? I usually have a litttle tinyyyy bit that peeks through when I wear sets from other brands but these? Nah. Perfection. They look SO natural and good!
If you want to try Olive & June, try using my referral link as it’ll give you 20% any system (that’s like a package). They have systems for polishes AND for press-ons and the “systems” come with tools nail buffers and cuticle creams.
There was a point in the afternoon when the house was SO quiet… A was napping, E was on her iPod. D & J were gone at basketball. I looked over and the only sound was that of Kylo snoring; even both dogs were napping LOL.
Once the boys returned from basketball, the big kids worked on class Valentines for their friends and teachers. I downloaded this printable to cut and attach to a goodie for their teachers. Cost $5 and took 5 mins; say less.
For their friends, we just did the Target-style class valentines and the big kids wrote them all out by themselves. I have arrived in parenting world. I remember when I’d have to do them for all three of my kids (I still had to help A this year though)… now I just dump all the supplies on to the table and tell them to go ham. Wow, time flies.
I finished off Saturday with a long walk around our neighborhood with E and Daisy. I spent an hour just chatting with her and enjoying the beautiful weather. She has 5th grade camp coming up this spring and I was asking her if she’s nervous, excited, etc. I told her that I was nervous for her to go because what if something happens!? And she literally LAUGHED at me and said “No mom! Don’t worry, I’ll be fiiiine!!” 🥺
sunday
Sunday morning I had to creep out the house and leave super early to be at church at 730am because choir was singing on stage. Here is my blurry, early morning selfie 😂
I laid out the girls’ outfits for church the night before and had us all wearing matching cardigans from Rylee & Cru kekeke! J sent me this picture of them getting bagels on the way to church 🤩
After church, the girls wanted to come home with me in my car while the boys went to pick up some lunch. Here are the three Sophisu ladies! A was intentionally hiding her face every time I tried to get a picture harumph.
I needed a nap once we got home from church so I lay down for a bit and then got up BECAAAUSEEE I was headed BACK to the spa! LOL! I wanted to try one of their facials and couldn’t get both a massage and facial in on Friday when I went so just booked them on separate days. I tried a hydrafacial for the first time and WOW. It was SO GOOD! I felt super glowy and not puffy … and my facialist even did some extractions but my face didn’t look super splotchy AT ALL.
By the way, when I was checking out after my service, the girls at the front desk (who were super sweet and nice) complimented my nails and I told them they were press-ons and they were both shocked; they said they looked like acrylics! I told them to go check out Olive & June 😏 So just saying guys … these press-ons are something else.
We closed out the rest of Sunday and the weekend by ordering pizza, watching a bit of the Superbowl (THE HALFTIME SHOW!!) and THEN! I put on a set of these mini press-ons by Impress for E. BWAHAHAAH HOW CUTE! I thought they’d be a fun treat for Valentine’s Day kekeke. She was super excited. I think they’re adorable and since there’s no glue used with them, I felt okay about her wearing them.
