Today is NOVEMBER 1st and I am SO HAPPY that the holiday season is officially upon us. As I write this post, I have a cozy fire going in my fireplace, a Christmas candle burning, and Christmas music blaring.
saturday
Even though I’m not big on Halloween, we did spend this past weekend doing *all the things* for Halloween. We started with a trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday with some family friends. We’ve been going to this same pumpkin patch for TEN years (minus last year when it wasn’t open due to COVID). Look how big my little pumpkins are getting 🥺
versus in 2018 (ages 7, 4, 1). BABIES DON’T KEEP, Y’ALL.
My kids know the drill when it comes to pumpkin patch photos now hahah. There’s this growth ruler that they always have to take a picture with … this was the first year when nobody cried when I took their picture LOL. We are officially out of the baby season, guys.
I also always get a picture of them on top of the hay bales …
…And of course, one more group picture in front of the white barn. Classic 😂
We got there a little before our friends, so we killed time by picking our pumpkins, eating the best kettle corn ever, and doing the mini hay maze.
Then our friends arrived and we did some of the pumpkin patch attractions like the cow train and jumping pillows.
And we did the corn maze for the first time ever! We’ve always had a stroller with us when we come to the pumpkin patch and it never felt worth it to lug a stroller through the maze so we never did it. I think last year we would have been able to try the maze but again, the pumpkin patch was closed so we didn’t even get to attempt. We did it this year largely led by the kids 🤪 We made it out, didn’t we?
Our kids are all the same ages… oldests born in 2011, middles born ON THE SAME DAY, and youngests are three weeks apart in age. We mesh well 😉
These two besties made up a secret handshake this weekend LOL.
And of course a family picture of us 5.
After a few hours at the pumpkin patch, we rolled over to KBBQ for dinner.
And spent a few hours eating food, talking, and just enjoying each other’s company. We all went home with full bellies and tired kids. A passed out in the car on the way home, even.
sunday
On Sunday, we all got up bright and early so that we could head out to our favorite Sunday breakfast spot before church. We used to do this pretty often before our church switched back to two services (versus three) and moved up the start time of the first service. But D mentioned that he missed going here for breakfast on Sundays so we made it happen 🙂
We’re such creatures of habit … we get the EXACT same orders when we come here for breakfast 😂 Anyway, we finished breakfast and headed off to church.
After church, I KNOCKED OUT HARD and took an epic nap. I woke up just in time to order pizza for dinner and then it was time for us to get dressed in our costumes and head out for some trick-or-treating in our neighborhood!
This year, we had Tinkerbell, a zombie, and Belle.
I also dressed up as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz because D always asks me why I don’t dress up for Halloween so … I said fine and pulled something together from items I already had in my closet haha. J dressed up as a guy from Breaking Bad .. I forget his name. But he’s had this apron for years and never worn it as a costume because we just get too lazy to care on Halloween. But this year, he obliged.
Trick or treating! The kids had a blast 🙂 And really, isn’t that all that matters?
That’s it! That’s our weekend and I am so happy to have all the Halloween stuff behind us until next year LOL. I have tons of fun content planned for the remainder of 2021 so make sure to enter your email below and subscribe so you never miss a post!
