Despite all the unknowns going on in the world right now, despite nothing in life looking like how anyone imagined it would, there is ONE thing that I can consistently look forward to every summer and that is the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Squeeeeal, can you FEEL the anticipation through your phone/computer screen!?
If you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade and don’t know what the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale it is, it’s only the best sale in the entire world (I’m kidding)! But what’s cool and different about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is that ALL the merchandise on sale is from the upcoming seasons. So typically, sales happen after season, when things from summer go on sale in the fall because it’s not longer relevant to what people want to wear/need/etc. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is unreleased, NEW merchandise from the upcoming fall & winter launches that buyers get to purchase early. So there are typically lots of sweaters, boots, jeans, coats .. it’s a good time to stock up before the start of a new school year for kids, too! You can find out more information here if you need.
The Anniversary Sale catalog is available online right now for (I believe) anyone to view but depending on if you’re a cardholder or not & what level cardholder you are, you can access the sale to actually shop on different days. I don’t know if I should be embarrassed about this or not but I’m an ICON level cardholder which is the highest available level so I get to shop starting Aug 4 .. which is TOMORROW!!
If you’d be interested in either seeing a video or blog post showing the things I buy during the Anniversary Sale, leave a comment down below and let me know! In the meanwhile, I thought I’d pull together a few of the immediate favorites that caught my eye and are on my list. The sneaky thing about the online catalog is that they’re constantly adding new things every day so I’ve already had to check back a few times to make sure I haven’t missed any prime goodies.
Women
Let’s be honest, the main reason why I shop the Anniversary Sale every year is for myself LOL. I have noticed that Nordstrom tends to put out the same types of items for sale every year – for example, they always have the latest version of the knee-high Stuart Weitzman boots on sale each year. Having shopped the sale for almost ten years now, those kinds of big purchase items are things I already have in my closet and don’t need to repurchase year after year. So typically, I like to look for things that seem unique to me or that I feel like I’ll wear a LOT in the fall/winter that will justify me getting a new one of. Make sense? Let’s jump in!
Madewell is one of the few brands that when I see their pieces included in the sale, I jump on. Their clothes fit that easy/casual mom aesthetic that I tend to lean on (ESPECIALLY with quarantine & COVID) so I know that anything I get from them will be worth the money spent. By the way, the price listed is the sale price with the parentheses price what the item will cost after the sale when prices go back up.
Madewell Jane Waffle Stitch Sweater $36.90 ($75)
Madewell Polka Dot Rhyme Top $46.90 ($72)
The same goes for Free People. It’s not a brand I shop from too often but I think they do a great job with their chunky sweaters. This long sleeve tunic top also looks like it’d be super comfortable with some leggings for an easy way to look put together while staying comfortable in quarantine, don’t you think?
Free People Afterglow Mock Neck Top $84.90 ($128)
Free People My Only Sunshine Sweater $69.90 ($108)
Free People Leo Henley Tee $44.90 ($68)
And yooo, this is kind of random but have you ever tried on one of the plaid shirts from Rails? They’re SO buttery soft! They’re also insanely overpriced but you can get a better deal on them during the sale. If you do decide to take advantage of the sale price, make sure to size up .. they run a bit tight in the bust (in my opinion).
Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt $99.90 ($158)
You know those big ticket items I said I like to take advantage of during this sale? A leather jacket is one of those items that’s perfect to purchase with the discount this sale provides! I probably won’t be purchasing one this year since I already have one that I love in my closet but if I had to pick, this one has definitely caught my eye!
Rachel Parcell Leather Moto Jacket $249.90 ($399)
Denim is another good deal you can usually expect at the Anniversary Sale. I’ve fallen more and more in love with my CJLA denim over the past year so I don’t find myself purchasing jeans from other stores as often but that doesn’t mean the Anniversary Sale doesn’t have good prices! Check out some of these pairs:
Rag & Bone Cate Ankle Skinny Jeans $166.90 ($250)
Frame Le Skinny De Jeanne Ankle Skinny Jeans $133.90 ($200)
Paige Verdugo Ripped Raw Hem Skinny Jeans $149.90 ($229)
Those are just three examples of great brand name denim that goes on sale during the Anniversary Sale! The same can be said of shoes: booties, sneakers, rain boots – you can find all of them in the Anniversary Sale selection.
Some favorites of mine from this year’s selection:
Vince Henderson Weatherproof Chelsea Boot $249.90 ($395)
How cute is this weatherproof Chelsea boot from Vince!? I might need to get this one … I have a rubber Chelsea boot in black from last year that I can still wear but the sand color in this pair is calling my name … Lord, help me lol!
Dr. Scholl’s Scout Zip Wedge Bootie $59.90 ($99.95)
I have a wedge bootie style sneaker (similar to this) from last year’s sale and trust me guys, these shoes are so cute with jeans in the fall! And if you’re a short gal like me, they give a bit of extra height and elongation to the silhouette 😉
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lift Ox Platform Sneaker $49.90 ($75)
Um ok, guys? If you’ve seen me at all in the last year or two, then you know that I love these sneakers. I got mine from the Anniversary Sale two years ago and to this day, they’re still my favorite pair of sneakers to throw on. They go with EVERYTHING and I love the little platform because, like I mentioned, short girl life. You need these in your life!
Stuart Weitzman Zuzanna Over The Knee Boot $499.90 ($795)
These are those over the knee boots I talked about in the beginning of my post. They’re a splurge item for sure, but if you already know you’re going to buy a pair of these this year then you may as well purchase them during the Anniversary Sale and save some major buck!
There’s so much more available in the shoe selection that you can browse through if there’s a different style of shoe or bootie that you’re hoping for. These were just a few of the standouts to me or examples of types of shoe purchases I’ve personally made from the sale in the past. Your style may be different from mine so make sure you take a look for yourself!
There’s also an extensive beauty selection in their sale but I’ll probably only pick up this value set from La Mer:
La Mer Mini Hydration Creme Collection Set $90 ($155 Value)
I won’t be purchasing this but if you’re interested/like Jo Malone fragrances, this is a great deal, too:
Jo Malone Cologne Collection $79 ($92)
Kids
While the majority of the shopping from this sale IS for myself, Hubby and I usually dedicate a little budget to spend on the kids at the sale for Back to School/Fall clothes too. Some tried & true staples that I repurchase year after year from the sale include Ugg boots for my girls, dress shoes (for church) for D, winter coats, and sometimes denim. The rest of the clothes are cute but frankly you can find better prices at Target. I’ll still go ahead and show you some of my favorite picks though. Let’s start with the things I know I’ll be getting for my kids (as a reminder, I have a 9 year old girl, 6 year old boy, and 3 year old girl)!
For Baby A
Baby A .. who’s now 3 and really not a baby. Her closet is already pretty well stocked so other than updating her Uggs for this year, I’m not sure how much we’ll actually buy for her. That said, I loved these picks from the toddler girl section of the sale:
The North Face Mossbud Swirl Reversible Water Repellent Jacket $63 ($90)
Joe’s Luna Star Patch Ankle Straight Leg Jeans $24.90 ($45)
Peek Floral Print Crinkle Sundress $31.90 ($48)
The North Face Oso Zip Fleece Hoodie $56 ($80)
Tucker + Tate Stretch Cotton Moto Leggings $13.90 ($19)
Tucker + Tate Animal Ear Hoodie $22.90 ($35)
Tucker + Tate Flutter Sleeve Jersey Dress $18.90 ($29)
Tucker + Tate Scalloped Chelsea Boot $21.90 ($44.95)
Adidas Gazelle Sneaker $32.90 ($50)
Ugg Shimmer Metallic Bootie $64.90 ($110)
For D
I had Hubby go through D’s closet write before making this post so I could know if we needed to purchase any specific items for him other than what I already know I want (winter coat, church shoes). He went through it and laughed saying even after pulling out the clothes he’s outgrown, his closet is full 🙂 So needless to say .. there won’t be much we need to shop for D during this sale but it’s still fun to look!
The North Face Warm Storm Hooded Waterproof Jacket $63 ($90)
The North Face Heatseeker Water Repellent Hooded Jacket $38.50 ($55)
Tucker + Tate Stripe Hoodie $18.90 ($29)
Nike Dri-Fit Swoosh Pixel Graphic Tee $11.90 ($18)
1901 Chukka Boot $21.90 ($44.95)
Big Girl E
And last but not least I have some of my top selections for my biggest girl, E. She’s going to be starting 4th grade next week – I literally can’t believe it! A few of the pieces I picked for baby A also come in bigger sizes that I’d get for E so what you see below are things that are exclusively for big girls. I do find that I prefer to buy her jeans, shirts, etc from other stores like Target or Zara but I love Nordstrom for shoes and outerwear so you’ll see a lot of my picks for her fall in those categories.
Zella Girl Glacier Faux Shearling & Fleece Pullover $42.90 ($65)
Treasure & Bond Block Heel Chelsea Boot $24.90 ($49.95)
This next jacket, E hand picked herself when we looked through the sale to see what she’d like 😉
Peek Moon & Stars Sequin French Terry Hoodie $33.90 ($52)
Treasure & Bond Faux Fur Trim Puffer Coat $45.90 ($69)
There are also obviously men’s clothing included in the sale but after years of Hubby actively showing disinterest or even downright disdain for shopping the Anniversary Sale himself (he’s frugal Mcdougal to the max) I’ve learned to not even look. So sorry, I won’t be much help if you’re looking to shop for a man in your life but again, feel free to browse the catalog for yourself! These were just my favorite picks 🙂
Alright – that’s it for me! I had a lot of fun pulling together my favorites from this sale and am SO EXCITED to shop! Drop a comment down below if you love shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, too and let me know what you plan on purchasing!
