Since this is the first of my NSale blog posts this year, I wanted to give you guys a bit more background information on the sale in case you’re unfamiliar. So unlike traditional sales, where items will get reduced pricing post-season (for example, summer stuff going on sale in the fall), the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is exciting because it’s all items from the UPCOMING season. The sale happens every summer and it’s all items for the upcoming fall and winter… once the sale is over, all the items become full-priced again. Pretty cool idea, right?
That said, having shopped the sale for so many years, I can tell you that many of the items are repetitive. There are always NorthFace jackets on sale, Ugg boots on sale, etc etc. The items do tend to repeat … that can be a good thing if you have kids (like me) who grow and will inevitably need new shoes and clothes every year but for adult apparel, it’s not really necessary to get a brand new pair of the exact same sneakers every year. So do with the sale what you will… some years I’ve shopped a lot and others I haven’t shopped as much because I just don’t need anything. Also, the sale includes all categories, even things like baby gear and home stuff are in the sale so if you’re in the market for a big ticket item now is a good time to save!
Last tip, things in the sale tend to sell out. Because cardholders (like me) get access to the sale up to a full two weeks before the general public does, items that are very popular will disappear quickly. For example, there is a big girl’s NorthFace jacket linked below that is already gone. BUUUUT, the reason why I still included is things are constantly restocking throughout the duration of the sale. My best tip is if you have your eye on something, add it to your wishlist (it’s free to create a wishlist but you do need a Nordstrom.com account) and add it to your cart when you have access to the sale. If it disappears before you can buy it, just keep checking back to see if it’s restocked! Another pro tip: because these are items from the UPCOMING season, what I’ve also done in the past if an item I want is unavailable is maybe buy it in a different color or different size (same item, though). Then, when the sale ends and everything is back in full stock in the fall, I can do an exchange for the correct thing and I still will have paid the sale price for it technically. I hope that made sense to you.
Anyway, I have below my top picks for kids’ gear. I have three kids as all of you know and I do have a regular list of things that I usually pick up at this sale. I kind of view it as “back to school” shopping for them .. my haul for them tends to be very coats & jackets heavy because those are the best deals in this sale IMO. There are also tons of jeans but I prefer to get my jeans at Target for the kids (you honestly can’t beat $10 jeans that are super durable). If jeans or something else that’s not in my graphic below is on your “need” list for your kids, don’t hesitate to check out the sale still! Just because I didn’t include it doesn’t mean it’s not on sale, it’s just not what I personally gravitate towards for my family.
