HOHOHO, okay guys – when I first saw that this would be the topic for March’s Let’s Look I was SO excited because as an introvert, there is NOTHING I love more than a night-in. At first I thought maybe I’d have a cozy little night-in that I could document and blog for this post but that didn’t end up happening so I’m going to just pull random pictures from various nights-in that I’ve had to show you what my ideal one would look like.
I feel like there are several different ways that I do a “night-in” – the first is a family “night-in” and this is typically a family movie night that we’ll do with all our kids. We eat dinner, shower the kids/get them ready for bed, snuggle up with snacks, and watch a movie all together in the playroom.
As much fun as this is, I can’t say that it’s my PERFECT version of a night-in. I enjoy doing these types of nights-in purely for my kids and the memories we get to make with them and that’s really about it.
The second way that I do a night-in has been something that was born more of necessity due to the pandemic (thanks COVID) – and that’s a GIRLS’ NIGHT IN.
Fun! I do love a good girls’ night in because I get to spend time with some of my best girl friends and we get to wear cozy clothes and just chill together. Over the past year, I’ve gone to both GNI’s that have been hosted at other people’s homes as well as hosted a few of my own.
Of course I don’t have any pictures of the times I’ve hosted them myself but just picture me, with my girlfriends, in our pajamas, drinking wine and watching cheesy movies together. That’s just about the gist of it. And yes, while this way of doing a night-in is SO 👏🏻 MUCH 👏🏻 FUN 👏🏻 … I can’t say it’s my “perfect” night-in either. Mainly because once everyone leaves or once I leave the person’s house, I still need extra downtime to “unwind” once I get home. The introvert in me gets easily drained even from spending time with some of my favorite gals in the world.
So … that leads me to this – the third and last way that I typically would do a “night-in” and my PERFECT way to do it. A “date-night-in” with this guy right here.
I’ll admit that the pandemic has forced us to have more at-home date nights than we’ve ever had but also .. I’m not really that mad about it. Again, #introvert. The best part of doing a night-in with my husband is that he’s the one person in the whole world who I can be 1000000% comfortable with. I fall asleep in the movie? No problem. I want to go hang out in bed on my phone for the rest of our night-in? No problem. I am having major tummy issues and have stinky gas all night? No problem. You get the idea.
My perfect night-in with J almost always starts with some delicious take-out from our restaurant of choice. Lately, we’ve been loving getting Japanese sashimi takeout … ugh, yum.
Followed by a show or movie together …
But again, sometimes we skip the movie and just sit next to each other while we watch YouTube videos separately on our individual phones. It sounds odd but just being physically together while we do our own thing is so relaxing for me, too.
A lot of times we end the night by sharing stories about the kids and then laughing raucously about how ridiculous but cute they all are. And sometimes we don’t talk about the kids at all but talk about other things that are on our minds/hearts and that’s just as fulfilling. Honestly, just spending time with J, with some gooooood food, and a little bit of quiet “together” time mixed in is my perfect night-in.
That’s it! Next month the topic is looking at our fridge/pantry which I’m honestly not that excited for … but LOL, hang around and maybe you’ll get a peek at what it looks like in my home.

Such a beautiful family and love that you have been able to continue your girls nights in during this past year. Sounds like sweet family nights in too!
