I’ll be honest, when I first saw the theme for this month’s Let’s Look link up I wasn’t all that excited. Love languages!? I haven’t thought about my love language in over a decade since I got married. The last time I spent any time at all musing over my love language was when my husband and I were doing a premarital counseling course before our wedding. I think we read the original “The Five Love Languages” book and took the little quiz that’s in the front of the book … and I’m pretty sure MY love language(s) back in 2009 were gifts and physical touch although I really can’t be sure now because I have no idea where our copy of the book is.
Fast forward 11 years and in preparation for this blog post, I thought I’d retake the Love Languages quiz to see if my results have changed at all.
And boy have they changed.
BWAHAAHA! Guys! My top love language is now QUALITY TIME! Receiving gifts is pretty close in 2nd place but physical touch has gone wayyyyy down to 17% HAHA. I think because I’m constantly being touch by three tiny humans who came out of my own body, I just want to be left alone. Am I the only one who finds this hilarious!?
And just for kicks, here are J’s results … If memory serves me correct, his top (or one of his top) love languages back in 2009 was acts of service. (Which is ironic because if you look back up at my most recent results, acts of service is what I ranked lowest on.) Now, almost 12 years later … *drumroll please…*
YOU GUYS! His top two are acts of service (which I guessed) and WORDS OF AFFIRMATION. My two lowest scoring ones. 💀 If two people could be more different ….
This was actually super insightful! As I was writing this post and asking J to take the quiz, I asked him to guess what my top love language might be. And guys, he was so, so wrong. So this was a good exercise in communication for us because even though we’ve been married for almost 12 years and feel like we know each other so well, there are still areas for improvement. If you’re married or are in a relationship, take the quiz and let me know what you and your partner get! Are the results what you expected?
And as always, if you’re a blogger and would like to join us for next month’s Let’s Look link-up, grab the graphic above and link back to the hosting blogs (Mix & Match Mama and A Little Bit of Everything). The topic for March is Perfect Night In and I am SOOOOO excited for that one!
