Okay guys, I’m not sure how I feel about today’s post … the prompt is Let’s Look: Holiday Decor Storage and … I’m not sure mine is all that interesting!? 😂 But who am I to question, if you want to see then I am willing to share. Let’s go!
To start off, I feel like I need to explain to you how holiday decorating in my house generally goes down. We moved into our current home almost five years ago (it’ll be five years in January! 🤯) and over the last five years, I’ve slowly been adding decorations. I don’t switch things up in a major way, in fact I keep everything mostly the same but just build on what I’ve already done in the past with each new Christmas that comes. As you can imagine, after doing that for several Christmases, I’ve accumulated quite a few things ALL OF WHICH I use every single year. For awhile, we were trying to get by with just regular ole garage storage but that quickly became unfeasible for my decor collection 😂. Last year, Hubby finally bit the bullet and invested in this slim backyard storage shed.
If you open up the shed, you’ll see that it’s actually super shallow in depth and perfect for stacking storage boxes.
There’s a mishmash of things but it’s mostly Christmas decor. All the boxes are labeled as such …
…so that I can easily find where all my things are when I’m unloading the boxes for decking the halls each year! It’s also nice because when the boxes are empty during the holiday season, I can actually stash our Christmas presents in here!
That said … if you know me, you know that I’ve already started Christmas shopping which presents a problem because the holiday decor hasn’t come out of storage yet. Where does that leave us? 😂
Back to the garage 💀. Let’s play a guessing game. Can you guess what in this picture is Christmas presents that I just bought for 2021?
Check below to see if you guessed correctly 😂
And actually after uploading this picture, I realized that even I forgot to circle something that is also hidden Christmas gifts.. that random black flap at the top of one of the wall shelves?
Is actually hiding a bin of more presents LOL. So… yea, most of my kids’ Christmas gifts are hiding in plain sight every year and they just have NO IDEA. They still believe in Santa so I try to make the hidden gifts look as inconspicuous as possible. We don’t do Santa in the traditional way that most people do… we keep the focus on the true meaning of Christmas and don’t enforce the idea that Santa only brings gifts to the nice and not the naughty. We say Santa is celebrating Jesus’ birthday by bringing us gifts because Jesus’ birth is the greatest gift apart from His death that God gave us! Hahahaaha. Anyway, I’m totally digressing –
Did you notice that there are also more boxes of Christmas decor stored along this garage wall? We have a few more boxes of stuff that didn’t fit into the shed in our garage!
And guess what 😂 My husband is dying right now because I just told him that this year we’re going to be adding even more decorations. We added a new fence this year and it’s right at the front of our house so OF COURSE it’s going to need decorations too! Bwahahaahahah.
Oh yea, and back to the hidden Christmas presents thing … by the time the holidays are in full swing, I actually will have presents hidden all over the house, not just in the garage. Last year I LEGIT FORGOT that I had some gifts hidden and found them (thankfully) on Christmas Eve by accident. I always try to have my wrapping done before then because I want to relax on Christmas Eve so this year, I made sure to WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN so that it won’t happen again.
I’m thinking of doing a “What I Got My Kids for Christmas” blog post .. if that’s something you’d be interested in, let me know! 🤩I just LOVE CHRISTMAS, I’m so excited! I know Halloween hasn’t even happened yet but I don’t care. Halloween, we don’t know her.
That’s it for this Let’s Look post, hope it satisfied your curiosity! And if you’re wondering what the prompt next month will be …
Thanksgiving menu!! 🤩
