It’s a new month and time for another Let’s Look! I’ll be honest, when I first saw the prompt for this month I wasn’t all that excited … I almost decided to just skip this month but eh, then figured why not.
I think a big part of my “meh-ness” is because I don’t have this amazing designer kitchen or anything and it felt sort of odd to “show off” a peek into my very regular fridge and pantry? I actually don’t even have proper walk-in pantry (I’d love to have one someday though!) but you know what … I think what I have is probably what most people have so even though there’s nothing aspirational about my house, I’ll share it with you anyway 🙂
Here is my pantry!
It’s honestly seen better days but it’s also no the worst it’s ever been. I go through waves of organizing it super perfectly and then over the course or a year or two, my system slowly deteriorates and then it becomes a huge disaster. I’d say it’s right in the middle of those two extremes right now 😂
You probably can’t tell but there is still a loose system to my pantry. The top half is roughly snacks … the very top shelf does hold extra cereal or back stock since it’s not a shelf I can easily reach. The middle shelf is “bad snacks” or snacks that I would consider to be more of treats/things that are NOT for the kids. Then the bottom shelf is snacks for the kids’ school snack times and/or when friends come over.
The bottom half is more “pantry staples” type of stuff. I roughly have breakfast stuff and crackers on the top shelf and then standard pantry stuff like pasta, granola, and root vegetables in the middle & bottom. As you can see this is also somewhere in between super organized and total dumpster fire. Hahaha, it’s ok… I told you, I’m not here to be aspirational, I’m here to show you real life LOL.
Next up is my fridge … we have a small LG fridge right now. There’s a specific spot in our kitchen where our fridge had to fit and the only one I could find that had double doors and whatever other specs I was wanting back in 2017 when we moved in was this one by LG. It has a narrow profile which is perfect for this little nook.
As with most stainless steel fridges, this one doesn’t let magnets stick to it but that doesn’t stop me! I just use tape and tape whatever important stuff I want to keep on our fridge 🙂
Once you open the doors, this is what you see on the left side: lots of sauces and condiments.
And this is what you see on the right side: more sauces and some eggs! The right side has a hidden door that I think is technically for easy access to drinks but I keep milk and our more reached for items here.
And then here is the main part of my fridge in all her glory … as you can see, we have a loose system of organization here too. The top part is sauces and dips … the middle is meat & leftovers and the bottom is fruit/veggies and bread. Lastly, I have a long shelf at the bottom that’s all cheese stuff … and that’s it!
Fresh produce is a big staple item for our family, everyone including the kids loves fruits and vegetables so I always make sure to have a lot on hand. We also have a backup fridge/freezer combo in our garage as well as a deep freezer so … I’m always well stocked. I think going through the bread, milk & egg shortage last year due to COVID has scarred me for life LOL.
I also realized that I don’t have a picture of my freezer to show but there isn’t much in our house freezer anyway because, like I mentioned, we have a deep freezer in our garage where we keep the majority of our frozen goods.
And that’s it for this month’s Let’s Look! Even after completing this post, I feel weird about putting it out there on the internet because .. again, it’s nothing amazing. But if you want it, it’s here for you to peek at! Next month, I’ll be giving you a look at outdoor organization! Which should be interesting because if you thought THIS month was nothing aspirational, wait until you get a look at my outdoor organization (spoiler alert: I have none).
