FRIYAY! By the time you’re reading this post I’m either on a plane ride to or already in Scottsdale, AZ celebrating my birthday a little early over the Labor Day weekend with two of my girlfriends. I thought for today’s Friday Favorites, I’d share my updated makeup routine because it’s one that I’ve fine tuned this summer and I definitely have some new favorite products in it. To start, here is the line up:
A few of the products you should recognize because I’ve talked about them many, many times before (like my mascara!) but others are definitely new to my routine. I’ll go through them one by one with links and pictures on my face! Also just a side note …last week I was trying out some new vitamins/supplements and quickly realized that they were not a good fit for me because I pretty much immediately started breaking out in terrible clusters of cystic acne all over my face. That’s unusual for my skin (and it was SO painful 😭) but instead of delaying this post and waiting for everything to heal, I’m just going to bare it all and show you so you might see some of the still healing spots on my face. Just a heads up.
step 1
I recently started replacing my usual SPF 100 with this Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF in the mornings. It definitely gives a GLOW and at first I was like woahhh – not sure if it’s for me. Here is my bare face (yikes!) with just the sunscreen on.
step 2
I saw this hack on TikTok but after applying the Glowscreen, SET WITH POWDER. YES! Set your face before you do your makeup! It helps give the makeup a little grip to stick to because otherwise the Glowscreen becomes a greasy, shiny mess on me. If you have dry skin you can probably skip this step. I’ve been using the Kosas Cloud Set Powder in Feathery (another TikTok find!) and it has replaced my long beloved Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder. I don’t know what it is but this powder gives a beautiful finish that’s not cakey!
step 3
After setting with powder, I use my trusty Bobbi Brown Skin Corrector Stick (shade Light Peach!) to conceal under my eyes …
step 4
And then I use a cushion foundation – lately I’ve been testing and liking the Rom&and Nu Zero cushion in shade Sand 25 – only on the areas that need a little bit more coverage!
step 5
After that, I add a bit of color back to my face with some Fenty Matte Contour SkinStick (shade Amber) and Rare Beauty liquid blush in Bliss …
step 6
Then I do my eye makeup … my eyeshadow look stays pretty natural and what I use varies depending on my mood but this is the eyeshadow palette by Dasique that I’ve been wearing the last week or so. I also use the same liquid eyeliner and eyeshadow pencil I’ve been using for years and years. I forgot to take pictures of those but it’s the KVD Beauty tattoo liner and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in shade Taupe.
step 7
Finish off with my usual mascara routine (see my TikTok here on how I apply)…
step 8
And lastly I add some bronzer and powder blush just to really seal in the cream contour & liquid blush I dabbed on earlier. I’ve been loving the Dior Backstage Powder No Powder because it’s super natural and this Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk blusher because it gives such a pretty, glowy flush.
final step
This last step of my makeup routine is sort of my secret weapon … it’s this Glass Skin Veil Mist spray by Peach & Lily. I didn’t think it did anything the first time I tried it but I gave it a second shot and it just … gives the most subtle glow. It adds a bit of shine back into anything that the cushion foundation or powder products dried out and I’m not exaggerating – I had a random parent compliment my skin at school the other day and say “your skin is ALWAYS glowing” 👀 I’m 99% sure it’s this spray.
Here is a before & after side by side … I don’t think you can see a change in the pictures BUT I promise … IRL, you can see one.
secret ingredient
But … ok SHH I think the REAL secret ingredient to my newfound glow? I recently upgraded most of my skincare to Skinceuticals and this C E Ferulic serum has made a HUGE difference in my skin. I feel sad that the supplements I was trying recently broke me out so much because before that, I swear my skin was looking the best it has in years. This little bottle is expensive but SO WORTH THE HYPE. Like … more than my La Mer creams frankly. 🤫 It’s our little secret now – go give it a try if you want!
