Hi guys! It’s been a few weeks since my last post … pretty much after the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in mid-July, the rest of summer was a blur of activity (and traveling!) and I am just now slowing down enough to catch my breath. I thought it’d be fun to a Friday Favorites/Life Lately mash-up style post today. That way I could share what’s been happening in general over recent weeks but also give a snapshot of what some of my favorites have been too.
So, since my last post we’ve had some big family milestones including celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary!
I got a new Chanel baby which was a total surprise. I really wasn’t anticipating a new purse because we have some other big things we’re trying to save money for and I told as much to J but he went ahead and spoiled me anyway 🥺 Not that I’m complaining though … she’s such a cute little addition to my collection and I am OBSESSED with the caramel brown color!
J had the sweet suggestion that I try to shoot some content since I was dressed up and we were distraction free in the city … but then when I agreed, I found out that he took pictures like this one 🙄😐
Our kids wrapped up their last weeks of camp … art camp for E and dance camp for A. D took a break from camp after a HECTIC summer schedule filled with *all the things* for him.
The other big family milestone was that we took our kids for their first ever trip to Hawaii … we were supposed to make this trip in March 2020 and you of course know why that trip never ended up happening. I’m working on a big “Hawaii Recap” style post that’s probably going to go up next week so I’ll save the pictures/details for that post…
Right after we got back from Hawaii, we had ONE day of downtime to unpack/laundry/get our bearings before we were thrown into Day Camp at our church (VBS). I mean, we weren’t forced to go to Day Camp but it’s E’s last year to go since she’ll be in middle school next year and Day Camp is only up through 5th grade so I wanted her to be able to attend. I figured I’d volunteer/serve at camp so that A could attend too and it was tons of fun but just a really long & exhausting week. Well worth it for the kids but next time if I know that we’ll be freshly returned from a trip, I probably won’t serve 😂
We got Kylo back from the boarder after we returned from Hawaii … and he also had the time of his life (playing with other dogs 24/7 & being outside all day? His dream, c’mon) but came back to us with a cold. A COLD. We had Spartan for a decade and he NEVER got sick like this – Kylo was literally sneezing chunks of green mucus all over the house so he needed a trip to the vet for meds. I’m happy to report that despite his active attempts to cough up every single pill dose we’ve given him, he is feeling much better now.
My garden has been busting with all sorts of crazy looking vegetables which is a total favorite. When I first planted this garden, I didn’t know what to expect and sort of viewed the whole thing as an experiment. It makes me so happy that I’ve actually been able to EAT things from my garden this year! I do have to be better about checking what’s growing out there though because these zucchini grow SO QUICKLY.
We celebrated the last Friday of summer break (and Day Camp!) with a big end-of-summer pool party for our kids and their friends. Not gonna lie, I was pretty exhausted by the end of that day but it was a complete favorite to see how much fun the kids had.
Discovering not one, but TWO Spider-MEN in my home is another recent favorite ..
As was the first day of school! LOOK HOW BIG THESE KIDS ARE.
A started a few days after the big kids but LOOOOOOK. I have pictures of all three of them starting Pre-K 😭
The big kids & I usually walk to school unless the weather is bad or we’re running truly late and I’ve been enjoying that little bit of time in the mornings with them. It’s always a favorite to get to walk them to campus and give them a quick hug or kiss before they run off. Although I will say … E has been running off without me almost every day this week as soon as we get into the vicinity of school. She either sees a friend and just goes off with said friend OR like today, she even just … went alone. Just left me with D and went off ☹️
By the way, the real reason why we walk (other than it being a nice way to start the day) is because the parking lot at school looks like THIS most mornings – (and this is just the entrance of trying to turn into the parking lot LOL).
I’m going to be honest and say that I think my BIGGEST FAVORITE this week is A starting at her new dance studio. She’s done a lot of dance classes at other places but this is the type of dance studio that has a competition team for older kids and feels a bit more .. how do I say, official? Anyway, she LOVED it and was adorable to watch.
And the last favorite/life lately update for this week is that I’m back to my 430am wake-times! I’ve always been an early riser but the 430am time has been tough for me since we had the time change back in March. But I’m happy to say that I just cold-turkey jumped back into it last week and my body has finally readjusted (even though I look grumpy here LOL) and I’m loving all the extra quiet time in the dark morning hours.
Don’t forget to check back next week for the Hawaii recap post! Or you can enter your email and subscribe to the blog so you get new posts directly to your inbox 🙂 Up to you … Enjoy y’alls weekend!
