I haven’t done a Friday Favorites post in a few weeks so here we go!
A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law texted us and offered to give the bigger kids free Korean lessons twice a week through Zoom. She said: since the entire world is on Zoom now, why don’t we try to do lessons together? The context behind this is I had texted her a few months ago asking for workbook suggestions to work on Korean with D, since his Korean school is not opening for in-person lessons at all. We’ve been doing lessons with my MIL for a few weeks now and it’s actually… going SUPER WELL LOL. She’s a teacher by trade; she was a school teacher in Korea before immigrating to the US and even once she was in the States, she was a Korean school principal for many, many years. So she’s definitely experienced! My husband even popped into the kitchen once during a lesson and whispered to me that his mom was totally thriving and in her element. Bwahaha!
You will have seen this already from my What’s Up Wednesday post but as I was getting our pumpkin patch photos together for that post, I was dying over how small our big kids used to be! In some ways I feel bad because for E & D because each time they were around 2-3 years old, my memory gets fuzzy since I would be pregnant or had a newborn. Looking at the pictures, I was marveling at how LITTLE my big kids were! I’d forgotten how chubby and tiny they were.
D has had chronic bloody noses for a few years now and they are always insanely large bloody noses with giant bloody boogers that come falling out. Because of that, I’ve started regularly checking his nostrils for backed up boogers (sounds gross but … it’s seriously backed up with boogers) and I usually take a q-tip and some vaseline to keep his nose clear to minimize the bloody noses. I was looking in his nose the other day and noticed that there seemed to be a giant bulging sac of skin inside both of his nostrils. The one on his right was not that big but the one on the left was SO inflamed, it was a wonder he could breathe at all through that nose! I posted the picture on IG and got a ton of responses and I was laughing because one of my closest friends sent me pictures of HER nostrils because she was trying to check if that sac of skin is normal or not. LOL DEAD. Find yourself true friends who will take pictures of the inside of their nostrils for you. This is the inside of D’s nostril by the way … see that sac I was talking about?
That same friend also sent me a surprise package this week! It’s been forever (for never ..?) since I’ve had a surprise package mailed to me. It was a pair of her blue light glasses that she’s always wearing during our work calls (we work together, too). I’m constantly telling her that I love her glasses and she’s so sweet, she sent me a pair so we could be twins! <3 Aren’t they the cutest glasses though!?
The other day, I tried to put A down for her afternoon nap and she was so adamant that she wasn’t tired that I relented and let her stay up. She’s kind of at a weird age when she definitely needs the nap – like she’s cranky without it – but some days she can last until bedtime without taking one. THIS day, though … she said she wasn’t tired and right around dinner time I was looking for her to come to the table to eat and found her in the playroom like this instead. I was a little annoyed but it was admittedly pretty adorable, though 🙂 Look at how she tucked herself in!
My last favorite this week! My favorite bow shop released their second drop of custom dye velvet bows/headbands this week! These bows sell out so fast … they opened their pre-order and within 40 minutes, all the popular styles were gone. WAHHH 🙁 I couldn’t hop on right as it went live because I had something conflicting but I jumped on an hour later and had to just deal with what was leftover. Super bummed BUT I still managed to grab all the colors I wanted, just not all the specific styles. I can’t wait to see these bows in person! (This picture is of all the colors that were available for their drop … there might still be some bow variants on their website if you’re interested!)
That’s it! I can’t wait for Halloween this weekend! Not because I love Halloween, I actually really don’t love Halloween at all but I’m excited because we’re going to a friend’s house for a Halloween party and I think my kids are going to have the best time. AND this weekend is Daylight Savings so we get an extra hour of daylight! Woot woot!
