Hey guys! Another week, another Friday Favorites 🙂
We started off the week with our 100th day of school on Monday. To celebrate, the big kids’ elementary school had a Spirit Day where everyone could come dressed like they’re 100 years old. I ordered some fake kids’ glasses (no lens) off Amazon and bought some silvery white temporary hair spray color and went to town getting the kids festive. D was especially getting deep into his role as a 100-year old grandpa hahaha. And of course, baby A had major FOMO and needed to wear a pair of fake glasses too even though her school wasn’t doing anything. She loved wearing those glasses, guys. Like, she was still wearing them when I picked her up from school, too.
If you listened to the latest episode of our podcast, Pen & Page Gals, then you might know that I recommended a few kids’ book titles in that episode. One of the titles was La La La by Kate DiCamillo and baby A LOVED IT. She was giggling throughout the whole story, even though the only word in it is literally – “la”. I would point out the illustrations, saying “look! the little girl looks sad” or whatever and baby A would nod her head and just be super INTO it. I read it to her twice and then she took it from me and tried to “read” it on her own. It’s always a favorite when I see my kids loving their books!
I’m also loving all these old school pictures that I keep telling you my gomo sends me. This one is a throwback of me from the 80s .. but I wanted to share it because I feel like baby A has my cheeks LOL.
My favorite hair bow/clip company EVER recently released a new bow variant called a petite fable bow (insert ALL the heart eyes) and I’ve been loving buying two of the same so I can make little pigtails for baby A’s hair! LOOK HOW SWEET!!!
I can’t make a Friday Favorites post without updating about how #75Hard is going. I love how accomplished and PUMPED I feel after completing an early morning workout. It’s honestly one of my favorite feelings ever – coming back home when it’s still dark out and everyone in my house is asleep and I’VE FINISHED A WHOLE WORKOUT ALREADY.
Baby A has been a chronic finger sucker since she was an itty bitty newborn. Fun fact: actually, all my kids sucked their fingers to self soothe when they were infants but E and D both self-weaned themselves around 8 months old. Literally, I did nothing, they just learned to stop sucking their fingers on their own. I assumed baby #3 would be the same but nope, I’ve learned that she is my wildcard in almost every single way. So here we are, 2.5 years old, and she’s still sucking her fingers. I really wanted her to have the habit broken by her 3rd birthday so this week, I finally whipped out some good ole Mavala Stop (from Amazon). It’s almost like nail polish consistency that you paint onto your fingernails and it’s SUPER bitter. I wasn’t sure if it would work or not but YOU GUYS – she hasn’t sucked her fingers in two days. The first day, she kept forgetting and putting her fingers in her mouth and then would make a face and say “EW YUCKY IT’S SPICY!”. (It’s not spicy, it’s bitter, but she doesn’t know the word for that.) The second day, I saw her put her hand by her mouth in a fist but not into her mouth and not try to suck … today is Day 3, but I have high hopes we may have kicked this habit to the curb. TOTAL FAVORITE!
Ah – my budding writer. D was playing in the playroom with the art supplies and paper and he came running to me saying he wrote a book and needed to staple it. I’ll be honest, I sort of brushed him off, like, oh yay, good for you … but then he wanted to read it to me and it was SO CUTE LOL. He had little illustrations and a whole story to go along with each page .. I was so impressed, I showed Hubby when he got home but then Hubby told me the story is the exact story of the Ninja Turtles movie -______- so … A for effort but not for originality I guess hahahahaha. Still a favorite this week, though! I always support creativity 😉
Ok, so this is a terrible photo but I only managed to snap one as baby A was actually walking away from D — these two play together NON STOP. I always hear squealing and laughing from them … they just follow each other around and romp like little puppies. I think they were wrestling on the floor or something but I tried to snap a pic and of course that’s when baby A decided she was done and wanted to go do her own thing. (She’s NOT stepping on him in this picture, btw.)
I’ll round out this week’s post with my FAVORITE little “gift” from D. All day on Thursday, he kept telling me he was going to make me a surprise for Valentines Day. Thursday was an off day for me. It started off on a bad foot – baby A woke up a little earlier than usual and was not happy so it made getting breakfast ready and packing lunches more difficult for me. Then D had a meltdown because while he was eating, his bagel ripped in half *eyeroll………. I had a weird encounter with my next door neighbor who I’d never met until that day (you need to follow my IG and watch my IG Stories to know what I’m talking about here). Hubby had a work function he had to stay late for so I was solo parenting all three kids all day. Etc etc. Anyway by the time it was Thurs night I was about ready to throw in the towel – when D comes and tells me my surprise is ready. LOOK WHAT HE GAVE ME 😍
And the front of the card was covered with pictures of hearts and flowers 😭😭😭 ISN’T IT SO SWEET?! I love being a boy mom sometimes 🙂
Happy weekend, guys!!
