It’s Friday! This week felt long because A was home sick all week and I wasn’t that productive but you know what? I think I needed the slower pace so I am not complaining at all! It was the perfect week to be holed up at home, snuggling my 4 year old.
Speaking of which, you wouldn’t think that it’s a favorite to have a sick child at home but that is precisely my first favorite this week! A woke up on Monday morning with a cough that was pronounced enough that I felt like she shouldn’t go to school (her preschool has a pretty strict sick policy). I loved having all the extra time at home with her and snuggling her all week.
Other than the cough, she was feeling fine (no sniffles or anything) so we went for a long walk together after the big kids went to school. Another favorite was hearing her chat my ear off for the entire hour! She asked me questions, sang songs to me, counted to 100 … it was precious.
As the week progressed, she did get sicker (low grade fever, sniffles, generally not feeling great) but these two were super helpful in getting her to kick the cold quick. Zarbee’s cough syrup & mucus and Vick’s Vaporub! Total favorites!
By Thursday, she had basically kicked the cold to the curb other than a lingering cough, which I suspect will be around for awhile. She slept HARD on Wednesday and Thursday and came out of her room on Thursday morning bounding with energy and a fresh spring in her step. I asked her if she felt better and she proclaimed: “Jesus healed me! I feel better!!” OMG TOTAL FAVORITE 🥺🥺🥺
In non-sick-kid favorites, I also picked up this George & Viv holiday decoration from Anthropologie this week and I LOVE IT. There’s a whole village set with different scenarios in the collection and I bought a few other ones but they’re all backordered 😭 I don’t know if I’ll get them in time for this year’s holiday season but at least I have this one!
Another favorite this week is HOW BIG my biggest girl is getting. She seriously looks like a teenager!? She was feeding the dog and I was just staring at her… I can’t believe she’s only 10. I don’t think this picture does it justice but she’s almost as tall as me now too so when she’s dressed all sleek in her black jeans and black Patagonia, coming up to my neck in height, I can’t help but gawk at her a bit.
It also RAINED THIS WEEK!!! HALLELUJAH! We know California desperately needs the rain and I loooooooved smelling the fresh air outside with the first rain of the season.
And speaking of firsts .. my last favorite this week is our FIRST FIREPLACE FIRE FOR THE YEAR! There’s nothing I love more than being cozy with a fire at home when it’s cold outside.
