Yooooo, it’s been a HOT MINUTE since I’ve done a Friday Favorites post but I have some really sweet favorites from this week to share with you!
FIRST OF ALL – If you haven’t tried this synergistically seasoned popcorn from Trader Joe’s, you need to run, not walk to your nearest TJ and pray to God that they still have it in stock 😂. I am SOOOOO regretting only picking up one bag of this when I was there earlier this week. I’d never seen this popcorn before so I wanted to try but also didn’t want to stock up if it wasn’t going to be good. Y’all. It’s good. SO SO GOOD. Sweet, slightly spicy, smoky, salty … it’s all the things that the bag says it is. TOTAL FAVORITE.
The Bay Area has been having a heat wave this past week so you know what that means … SWIMMING! My kids have been swimming EVERY DAY after school this week. Like, they just throw off all their clothes as soon as they get home and hop into the pool. Not gonna lie, it makes it feel like it’s summer already and I am dying as we still have two more weeks of school before we can really get into summer mode. Still, seeing how much my kids are enjoying the pool and our outdoor space this week has been a big favorite for me.
Earlier this week, I also tackled a huge project that has been on my to-do for a few MONTHS … and that’s to reorganize all of A’s hair accessories. This girl was born with a crazy head of hair so I’ve been collecting bows & clips for her since literally the day she was born. At this point my collection is out of control but I’m oddly kind of proud of it. I had a hard time figuring out what organization system would be the best for us since I like things to be on display so I can see what we have … finally, I saw this sort of wire grid thing on Pinterest and knew that was what I wanted to do. It took me all day to get everything organized but seeing it all clutter-free and (somewhat) color coordinated is a favorite! 🤩
Speaking of tackling big to-do projects, another favorite has been that J finally finished building my giant L-shaped garden box this week!! I’ve been asking him to do it since March so it’s been two months of waiting … but it’s finally put together. It was really cute to see J get super into the project too. Once we had the materials purchased, he started working on the box with a fervor I’ve never seen before – I’m talking in the mornings before work, late in the evenings after work. Yaaaaaaaas! Look at my beautiful box! (You can kind of see but he also signed one of the bottom support beams in the box 😜.)
The last favorite I have for this week is seeing my big, beautiful E read aloud a poem she wrote for school in our district’s school board meeting. She and another 4th grade classmate were asked by our school principal to share their poems and lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the school board meeting on Zoom. It was so special! My FAVORITE part of it, though, was all the emails we got from E’s old teachers after she read her poem. I mean, I got emails from almost every staff member who has worked with her in the school district – it was really sweet. Everyone said they were so proud of her and got emotional seeing her read her poem out loud 🥺 Stoooop, I’m not crying, you are.
That’s it! This weekend I have some fun plans to celebrate a few birthdays and hang out with friends. In not-fun news, though, our water is also getting shut off for the entire freakin day on Saturday so that the local water company can replace all the pipes on our street (they’re from the 1950s…) so that will be fun to have no running water or flushable toilets with three kids at home. LOL! Be on the lookout for the weekend recap post next week 😂 It’ll be a good one, I’m guessing.
