It has been a MINUTE since I’ve done a Friday Favorites post, hasn’t it!? I don’t have a ton of favorites this week but let’s take a look at what I do have!
This song came across my TikTok FYP and … guys, I started crying when I heard it. It’s about generational trauma and I don’t know, it just really hit a vulnerable spot for me. I’m happily married with kids of my own but hearing this song took me back to my own childhood and I think that’s why it made me cry. I’m thankful that by God’s grace, I’ve been able to give my kids a different home environment than the one I grew up in.
Another music favorite! I am not the biggest Blackpink fan (Kpop girl group) BUT I do loosely follow their music and am interested/aware if they drop new music. One of their members just came out with her solo single and I am surprisingly obsessed with it hahaha. I’m surprised because I’m not a huge fan of the group overall (nothing against it, I just haven’t really gravitated towards it) but this solo single by Rose has been on repeat this entire week for me.
On Monday, I came across this coconut granola bark at Trader Joe’s and was immediately intrigued. I tried it and OMG … it’s good. It’s an actual “bar” of bark, not the thin crispy thing that I was envisioning but it’s totally satisfying if you’re looking for a little afternoon pick me up!
Um ok, so I was browsing my local library’s “Lucky Day” e-book section and saw that they had the Kindle version of the Bridgerton book (The Duke & I) available. The “Lucky Day” section is comprised of super popular books that lucky for you they have extra copies of for you to check out IMMEDIATELY. The idea is that you’d normally have to queue up and wait weeks and weeks to borrow books in this section but a few titles have extra copies for readers to borrow immediately but with a shorter lending period. ANYWAY, all that to say, I saw that Bridgerton was in there and thought .. eh, why not? I’d watched the Netflix series and LOVED it and was slightly curious about the books since the books came first. Normally, I’d read a book series first before watching an on-screen adaptation but in this case, I’d never heard of Bridgerton until the show was already out and everyone was raving about it … so I watched first. The first few chapters of the book, I was a little skeptical because it was EXACTLY the same as the show (duh) and I felt a little bored because I obviously know what’s going to happen already. BUUUUT, I’m a little more into the middle of the book now and OoooOooOOO it’s GOOOOOOOOD. It’s different from the show!! I mean, I’m sure the ending will be the same but a lot of the “dramatics” that happened in the show are different from the ones in the book (probably to make it more appealing to a mass audience? I don’t know) and I am REALLY ENJOYING the book. 👀It’s also (so far) not as graphic as the show was at all so that’s been good for me.
My last favorite for this week is our backyard! You know that we’ve been doing some work on it for the last few weeks and the majority of the backyard work is complete now. I love the big open view of the pool we get now (although I do need to be careful, especially with A being out there) AND mostly, I love that the kids get to run around and ride their bikes/scooters unencumbered and jump on the trampoline. They’re having so much running around and jumping in the backyard trampoline when the weather cooperates. It’s been a favorite and made all the money/time/construction noise worth it.
That’s it! I told you it was a short list this week. Happy Friday, hope y’all have a great weekend!
