It’s that time again – the last Wednesday of the month! Geez, I can’t believe another month has already gone by.
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK
Yum, do you see these delicious meatballs? I’ve been using this Rachael Ray meatball recipe for forever – they’re simple, straight-forward, and a crowd pleaser. I realized that I hadn’t made them in awhile so I whipped up another batch for dinner the other night and guys … see where there are empty gaps in the rows? Those are the ones that I decided I needed to “taste test” to make sure the meatballs got cooked all the way through. And then after I took this photo, I may have “taste tested” another meatball or two. Or three.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
Baby A turned 2 years old a few weeks ago. I can’t believe she’s 2! I keep looking at these old baby pictures of her and thinking that it was only a few months ago instead of a few years. She was so itty bitty, and that HAIR!
WHAT I’M LOVING
While I’m reminiscing about how fast Baby A is growing, I’m also sort of loving the fact that she’s 2. Her personality is shining through in full force these days and although sometimes it can be difficult disciplining her stubborn side, it’s also so wonderful to watch her development and sass (when it’s cute sass). I’m loving all the fun new words/conversations she’s able to have. She’s constantly coming up with new gems like this —
A: Mom! MOM? I’m -a- hungwee. (Said just like that.)
Me: You’re hungry?
A: Yeth. (“Yes”, with a lisp. Dead)
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
Did you see my random little post yesterday? That pretty much sums up what we’ve been up to. The weather here has also been super gorgeous so we’ve been playing outside a lot.
WHAT I’M DREADING
I don’t know that I’m really dreading anything BUT I do know that for the next few weeks, I’d like to cut out sugar/junk foods and focus on sleeping earlier like I used to. Somehow I slid off the “healthy habits” train for the past month and I feel like crap for it. So I’m not really dreading reincorporating healthy eating and sleeping but … I’m kind of not looking forward to it? Because let’s be honest. Staying up until midnight on a weekday, watching YouTube while eating gummy bears is pretty fun, albeit unhealthy. LOL.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON
Okay, so I haven’t actually started working on this yet BUT the Precepts Bible study class that I usually do just wrapped up for the school year and my goal for the “summer” is to study a book of the Bible on my own. I read Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin last summer after attending the TGC Women’s Conference and it really lit a fire in my heart/desire to study the Bible for myself. I’d never done it by myself in the way that Jen outlines in her book so I attempted for the first time ever last year … I only got halfway through the first chapter of my book of choice before I got overwhelmed and gave up. But! My goal is to make it through the entire book (whichever book I choose, I haven’t decided yet) while my Precepts study is on break. Pray for me!
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
I know it’s still a month or so away but I’m really excited for the summer. Not only because our schedules tend to be less busy in the summertime but also because this is the first summer that all 3 kids will be taking swim lessons together and I can’t wait to see how they do. E was SOOO close to finally getting a regular breaststroke down last summer. With her autism, she has a hard time with spatial awareness and coordination so we really just focused on mastering breaststroke all last year. She didn’t get it but I think this might be the year? And for the first time ever, D told me that he’s NOT going to cry during swim lessons and he’s going to learn how to swim “like a big boy” without the floaties. So .. I’m super excited to see if that happens or not. Baby A is like a natural born mermaid so I can’t wait to see how she does with our swim teacher.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING
Do you guys know about mukbang? Google it if you’ve never heard of it but basically it’s watching people eat. Which … I know, sounds SO weird. I’ve gone through phases over the last few years where I get super into it and then lose interest and don’t watch for a long stretch of time. It recently popped up again in my suggested Youtube videos (I don’t know why, though?) so I clicked and .. I’m hooked again -_-
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Lots … and lots … of Baby Shark. All you moms of toddlers/preschoolers feel me.
WHAT I’M WEARING
CARLY JEAN LOS ANGELES! I talked a bit about this brand in my 10 on 10 post but I just cannot get enough of this brand! All their stuff is so mix & matchable and easy to wear – I’m seriously obsessed. They’re running a 30% off promo on ALL their denim right now so it’s a good time to try a pair of their jeans if you’ve ever been curious.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND
This beautiful big girl is turning 8 years old so we’re celebrating with a little art party this weekend. I can’t believe she’s already 8 🙁
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
Our church hosts an annual “Ladies’ Day Away” which is basically like a one-day conference for women and this year’s speaker is NANCY GUTHRIE! I believe she’ll be speaking out of her new book, Even Better Than Eden, and I so can’t wait to spend time with some of my favorite mommy friends and hear her speak!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Okay so this is random but remember how I recently chopped off all my hair? Because it’s so short now, I’ve just been air-drying it after my showers and it’s been changing my LIFE, you guys! I think I’ve been blow-drying my hair after every wash since high school so .. at least 15 years? I remember when I was in high school, I discovered the magic of a blow out and sort of taught myself how to do them. Somehow over the years, it just became part of my routine – shower then blow dry. Shower then blow dry. Shower then blow dry. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Now that I don’t have to blow dry my hair after showering, I feel such liberation!!
