This is so totally random but … here I go.
Have you guys ever heard of the #75Hard challenge? I literally just stumbled across this tonight while falling down a random rabbit hole on YouTube but after researching it for a bit, I am SO ready and fired up to take on this challenge. You can read more about it here or listen to the original podcast by Andy Frisella who created the challenge here. It’s a mental toughness challenge. There are physical rewards that you should see if you truly stick to it but it’s more about the mental toughness than the physical/fitness goals you’ll achieve.
The rules are simple and straightforward but no-nonsense.
- Pick a diet and follow it. The diet is up to you but once you designate what you want your eating to look like, stick to it for 75 days. NO cheat meals!
- Workout twice a day for 45 minutes each. One of these workouts has to be outside! I’m such a baby about working out outside (even though I do love to go for power walks) but I think about all the people who are undertaking this challenge on the East Coast and being that I’m in California … I don’t really think I have much to complain about. The workouts can be as easy or intense as you need – a simple walk or even restorative yoga class can count as one of your two for the day.
- Drink a gallon of water a day. This should actually be not toooo hard for me as it’s something I already do.
- Read 10 pages of a non-fiction book a day.
- Take a progress picture every single day.
The last part of the challenge, which isn’t really a rule per se, is that if you fail during any of the 75 days, you need to go back to the beginning and start again. So, this is not a challenge for the faint-hearted … the YouTube video I watched said something like only 2 out of 100 people will actually finish it. BUT, I am so ready for a change and this challenge actually lines up with so many of my New Years Goals for 2020 that I think it will be a good jump start. (By the way, look out for a post coming this week about my resolutions and goals for the year/decade!)
Anyway, we have a spring break trip coming up in exactly 75 days from when you are reading this … and the period in between now and that trip is relatively quiet so having no cheat meals will be as easy as it’s ever going to be (which isn’t saying much but still .. have you ever tried having no cheat meals during, like, the holidays? this is much better than that hah!). I don’t know that I’ll blog more about this challenge or not .. maybe I’ll do periodic updates? *shrug. But I’m excited to try it out so I thought I’d write about it for my 5 followers in case you want to be inspired to do it too 😀
