Hey guys, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. As we all know .. life is very strange right now. Anyway, I’m not sure how much I’ll keep blogging given the circumstances we’re all living in but at the very least, I wanted to make a short post documenting what J & I did to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
I kept telling J all day yesterday that yesterday was one of my favorite anniversary memories in recent memory. Last year was a milestone 10-year anniversary, and while it was definitely exciting and special (I got a Chanel purse as a surprise gift y’all), this year still topped it for me. After thinking about it all day, I realized … I think it’s because I just really love being at home. And with COVID & quarantine … there was no pressure or obligation to go out and “do something”; I spent the day doing my favorite things with my favorite people in my favorite place (home). So here we go! Here’s what we did to celebrate 11 years married.
We started the day just by sleeping in and catching up on our front porch with Kylo by our feet. We just got these new front porch patio chairs and I’m loving that it gives us a place of quiet away from the kids that’s also readily accessible and available while we’re on lockdown.
After a slow morning, we realized how gorgeous the weather was and thought it might be a fun treat to take the kiddos out to eat somewhere. D in particular has been mentioning how much he misses eating at restaurants and stuff so we packed up all the kids and headed to our favorite local outdoor eating area.
Eating with masks on outside is an interesting experience and definitely something I think I’ll be telling stories of to my grandkids, Lord willing, one day.
After lunch and gelato, we headed back home. I was snuggling A before her nap time and was struck by how big she was in my arms. It’s only a matter of time before I won’t be able to carry her like this anymore.
We fed the kids Chinese take out for an early dinner and shipped them off to bed at 730pm. I think they were really confused because with quarantine and summer time, we’ve been letting them stay up until 9pm most nights. Last night the sun was still shining when we said it was time to hit the sack. But! We did it because we got to-go food from our FAVORITE Japanese restaurant and we wanted to enjoy our anniversary date night dinner outside without interruptions.
The food was fan-freakin-tastic. Unpictured: the Krispy Kreme donuts we enjoyed for dessert inside while binge watching Alone on Netflix together.
All in all, it was the perfect day and best way to celebrate 11 years married to each other. Woohoo!
