10 on 10 is a post where I post 10 pictures from the 10th of every month!
So you know, we always have bacon on the weekends and J’s always the one in charge of cooking it so I was SHOCKED when I walked into the kitchen this morning and saw … all the bacon burnt!? HE BURNED THE BACON, GUYS! Don’t worry, I still ate it 🙂 Hey! Bacon is bacon!
J took care of some work in his garage office and Kylo chilled with him since the air quality is finally nice and clear again.
D had a friend over for a backyard play date later in the morning. Poor guy has literally not had a SINGLE friend over since quarantine/pandemic began so I talked to one of his friends’ mom and we both agreed that an outdoor play date felt doable. These two were in the same kinder class last year and are in the same 1st grade class this year AND they are also on the same rec soccer team so they already get a little face to face interaction. D was SO excited!
The “big thing” on our schedule for this day was taking our family photos for 2020 holiday cards! I do usually try to have our pictures taken by end of October so I have lots of time to pick/order our cards and get them mailed out by end of November. My friends joke that my card always arrives first .. but I think last year I got a little TOO eager and maybe sent them a bit TOO early? So this year I might just aim for beginning of December instead of end of Nov. Who knows? Anyway, I curled E’s hair and she looked so cute. Somehow half little girl half tween.
Then we loaded up all the kids and drove down to Arizona Gardens at Stanford University. I’ve never been here but I grew up in Palo Alto so the surrounding area was familiar to me. At one point in the car ride, we looked in the back and saw all four kids, including our canine one, just silently staring. Buuuut I do think this was Kylo’s way of exhibiting carsickness because when we arrived at the garden, we realized he’d thrown up in the back. Yay ….
Once we arrived at the garden, we waited around a bit for our photographer …
Our photographer encouraged us to wear fancy things that we wouldn’t normally wear in real life so I bought this beautiful blue tulle skirt to rock … I don’t know when I’d EVER wear this skirt after today but I was so in love with it for our photos! (D took this picture btw hehe)
Then our photo session began! The kids started out okay but honestly … their behavior turned sour QUICK. There was crying, complaining and just all around bad attitudes. Le sigh. J & I gave them all a little photo shoot debriefing in the car afterwards, telling them that we were a little disappointed in their behavior, we know they can do better than that, what we’d expect from them in the future if we take pictures again, etc. In any case, I hope the pictures come out cute!
We shot photos for about … 2 hours? A little under? So I do understand why my kids started to get cranky (it doesn’t excuse the general sass and disobedience, though). By the time we were done, it was past their normal dinner time so we thought we’d pop into Korean grocery store on the way home and pick up some kimbap for the kids to nom on during the car ride back. But when we went into the store, they were all out of kimbap! They were out of everything! I think probably because it was after the dinner rush? Anyway, we quickly thought of a Plan B which was to order some gomtang from a restaurant, pick it up, and eat it at home. The food was sooo good but the kids were TIRED and DIRTY – that’s what happens when you’re taking pictures in a garden with dirt and cacti!
All I wanted to do ALL day was get into my cozies and watch a few episodes of The Discovery of Witches on AMC. I read the books last year with the explicit purpose of reading so I could watch this show … but then forgot to watch the show after I read the books. The month of October is perfect to start watching, though! This series is like Twilight but for grown ups 🙂 Anyway, so I’m closing out the day and this 10 on 10 post with my face mask on and some tv.
Do I look tired? It’s because I am LOL. Good night!
