It’s the 10th of the month again! Here are my 10 pictures from today .. let’s jump in!
Early morning coffee … I took this picture right before 6am. Lately, Hubby & I have been waking up around 530am together. I’ve always been a early riser/morning person. Okay, not ALWAYS — if you knew me pre-kids then you know that I used to be able to sleep in until lunch on the weekends. But after having kids, I discovered the magic in quiet, dark mornings with a few hours to get a jump start to your day and never looked back. Hubby is quite the opposite of me. On a “good” day, he’ll hit the sack around midnight … when he’s stuck working from home on something for the office, he can stay up until 1am or later, easily. I’ve been trying to convince him for forever that sleeping from 1am-7am is probably not very healthy for him … and that if he’s only going to get 6 hours of sleep (or less) a night, it would be better to shift the hours from 10/11pm to 5am. Finally, a coworker at his office was small-talking with him and mentioned that she does that exact thing — sleeps earlier but wakes up before dawn — and that gave him the little nudge of, “hey .. maybe I should try this too?”. So this week, we’ve been getting up early together and can I tell you I FREAKING LOVE IT. It’s like having little “date mornings” together before the kids get up … we read, or get work done, or even just chat with each other before the day begins. Anyway, ALL that to say that Hubby needs coffee when his eyes open so I’ve been making him coffee in a dark kitchen and this is my first picture of this month’s 10 on 10!
After a few hours of quiet morning time, we got the kids up and ready to start their day. For the past year or so, D has been in the habit of wearing baseball caps every single day. Except for church on Sundays. I’ve been trying to persuade him to give up the hat habit, at least once in awhile, but again — my words seem to fall on deaf ears for the men in this family. It finally took Hubby casually mentioning that he should “let his hair breathe” (LOL DYING) once in awhile that got D to ditch the hat occasionally. He decided today would be a hatless day and he wanted to gel his hair BY HIMSELF. So we let him. And he did pretty great for a 5-year old 🙂
This little button is usually the last to wake in our family and there are many mornings that she’s still asleep when we have to leave so I force her awake. Today was one such day hahaha.
Okay, guys … have you heard of Carly Jean Los Angeles? They’re a clothing company based out of Los Angeles and I just discovered their stuff … OB-SESSED. Their styles remind me of Madewell (but classic Madewell .. the recent Madewell stuff can be a little too avant-garde for me) but for half the price. Good, quality fabrics — their stuff is SO soft — and I love how easy it is to wear their clothes. Their whole thing is creating timeless capsule wardrobes so all their pieces are designed to mix & match seamlessly with one another. Anyway, I am wearing one of their tops today and loved it so much I tried to take an OOTD shot. I halfhazardly took this pic after dropping D off at school thinking I’d take a cuter one later … but then my day took a crazy turn (read below) and baby A smudged chocolate fingers on the front and this is all I have. #momlife
Okay, so my somewhat normal Wednesday turned into a crazy morning while I was on my way to church to Precepts Bible study class. I was involved in a 3-car fender bender and had to wait an HOUR for the police to show up to write up the report. I was the very front car so our damage was minimal and I didn’t hit anyone so clearly I’m not liable (thankfully) but it was annoying to have to wait with a toddler. Said toddler clearly didn’t seem to mind though (thank you, modern technology). PS – The booster seat she’s sitting on in the photo is not hers obviously … her car seat is the rear facing diono you see to the very left.
After a little car accident and an hour long wait … I finally made it to Precepts Bible Study!
My sister from another mister that is in this class with me brought these truffle marcona almonds from Trader Joes to snack on and LET ME TELL YOU. YOU NEED THESE IN YOUR LIFE. I can’t stop thinking about them.
Treated myself to some yummy Mediterranean food for lunch. One of my fave spots is right next to church so I usually pick up a salad after Bible study days. I love me some fire feta yaaaaaaas.
After naps and school pick ups, I dropped E off at an extracurricular activity and took the little kids to the park before D’s basketball class. Baby A discovered this round turning thing and wouldn’t get off it.
My last picture for today is from basketball class! It’s empty because we were there a little early. After basketball, Hubby offered to pick up all 3 kids and take them out to dinner solo so I can get some decompressing time. I had a crazy day so I took him up on it!
See you next month!
